Junie Saint Juste 02/03/24 BCN3731C 1. Are there any problems with Joe’s and Mikes ladder work? There are several problems with their ladder work, Joe and Mikes ladder work is problematic for two reasons. To begin with, joe and mikes employer should have trained them on correct ladder safety and provided them the correct information before leaving them. According to OSHA, the employer must provide fall hazard training and protective equipment, which then highlights the fact that Joe and Mikes problems started from Mr. Smith not providing proper training. Secondly Joe and Mike should’ve known to ask for training, especially joe since he was feeling unsure through the scenario. 2. What could be the reason for Joes fall? The main reason for joe falling is the improper ladder set up. Mike had told joe the improper ratio with height of the ladder and how far the base must be from wall. The correct ratio is for every four feet of height, the base of the ladder should be one foot away from the wall. Mike also told joe not to worry about the ladder not seeming stable, because it was not on level ground, which also may have been another reason for joe falling. 3. Do you think mike is working safely? Why or why not? Mike is not working safely in the scenario. To begin with he had no plans of getting the proper training when using ladders, then proceeds to improperly train joe on how to safely use a ladder. Mr. Smith had pointed out the fact that Joe had been sitting and standing at the very top of the ladder. According to OSHA standards when using a ladder, you should never be using the very top of the ladder as a seat or any other stepping platform.
