Mathworks Hirevue 1. What is your understanding of this position and what interests you in this position? my understanding of this position within the Engineering Development Group (EDG) at MathWorks is that it offers a dynamic blend of technical application support and interdisciplinary project work. The role involves not only providing high-level customer support for MathWorks' suite of products, which includes MATLAB and Simulink, but also participating in collaborative projects with various other departments such as Software Development, Technical Marketing, Customer Training, and Consulting. This indicates that I'll have a chance to gain exposure to different facets of the business, further enhancing my understanding of how each department functions and interacts with one another. I have had prior experience using MATLAB, and it has been instrumental in my approach to problem- solving. The intuitive nature of the MATLAB programming language and its graphical environment have made it easier for me to formulate and solve complex problems. The versatility of MATLAB allowed me to use it for a variety of applications such as data analysis, algorithm development, and system simulation, to name a few. I enjoy the problem-solving aspect of engineering, and MATLAB has been a powerful tool that facilitated this. The continuous process of identifying a problem, creating a solution using MATLAB, and then observing the results is something I find both challenging and rewarding. 2. What programming languages and engineering domains do you think you are a good fit for this position? I bring proficiency in Java, Python, SQL, and MATLAB, along with extensive experience in back-end and full-stack development. My ability to use these programming languages for algorithm design, data management, and system modeling is key to my success. With a focus on back-end development, I've honed my skills in creating robust and efficient systems using Java and Python, while SQL has been integral to my work in database management. My experience as a full-stack developer equips me with a comprehensive understanding of the different layers of tech stacks, enabling me to troubleshoot issues more effectively. Combined with my MATLAB expertise, I believe this blend of skills, particularly in back-end and full- stack development, positions me well for the role in the Engineering Development Group at MathWorks. 3. Explain one of the recent projects that you are proud of and why is it important? Include your role in this project. One of the recent projects I am proud of is the project I did during my internship at LinkedIn. I was responsible for creating a Kafka tracking event for restricted users, processing and analyzing tracking data using Spark SQL and Scala. I am very proud of myself for several reasons: First is that I was able to push through the whole project by myself, from the beginning of schema and implementation design to showcasing the analysis dashboard to the whole organization, providing insights to our businesses. Second is the utilization of different tools. Also, cross-team communication and fast learning ability are indispensable to the success of my project.
