Define what “muckraking” was, and give 2 examples of how it was used. (15 points)

Muckraking was a term that Teddy Roosevelt used derogatorily to describe investigative journalists. Muckraking was journalism that exposed the truth about things going on socially. Muckraking was used in Jacob Rii's "how the other half live"
exposing how immigrants were living in tenement housing. Muckraking was also used in Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle", demonstrating the plight of meat workers and how meat was processed.
Name at least 3 of the “war hawks” and what they wanted. (15 points)
