America's involvement in World War I was not a foregone conclusion. Many in
Congress were divided on the issue, prior to the publication of the Zimmerman
Telegram. defend your argument why the U.S.
should
get involved in the war.
I argue that America should have gotten involved in World War 1 for a couple
of reasons. The first reason being that the Zimmermann telegram revealed
that Germany proposed an alliance with Mexico to take over territory from
America. After receiving the telegram, which was a direct threat, the U.S. had
no choice but to get involved in the war to deter Germany from an attack on
America. Another reason I agree with America getting involved in the war is to
protect Americans and its property from Germany. Germany had an increasing
submarine presence, and they were unpredictable after sinking the Lusitania,
killing over100 Americans. I think the direct threats to American interests mad
a compelling case for entering WW1.
