2 Keith While researching African American women during the Civil Rights Movement, I have become increasingly aware of their enormous contributions to the movement. As active participants and leaders in the Civil Rights Movement, African American women were not merely passive participants. Their efforts included organizing, protesting, and fighting for equal rights, freedom, and justice. As a result of their courage and resilience, others were able to strive for similar goals and were empowered to achieve them. During my research, I have discovered critical accounts of the Civil Rights Movement that conventional descriptions have overlooked. In addition to illustrating the importance of African American women's involvement in the movement, these accounts also demonstrate their role as advocates for racial and gender equality. Those who joined them in the fight against injustice benefited from their activism and visibility. As a result of these accounts, we gain a deeper understanding of the scope and significance of this historical moment in our country's history. As a result of African American women's activism and visibility, younger generations were also inspired to continue to advocate for equality based on race and gender. The stories of these individuals serve as a reminder of the importance of solidarity and the power of collective action. The Joan Kelly Grant remains the most appropriate funding and resource source for my research since it will provide me with the funding and resources to conduct my research and honor the legacy and contributions of African American women. This program aims to recognize and support scholars dedicated to revealing the stories of women that are not included in conventional historical narratives. In addition, this grant will serve as a bridge between the academic community and the public. Moreover, it will allow African American women to speak and be heard. This grant will enable me to continue my research and highlight the critical roles
3 Keith played by African American women during the Civil Rights Movement that have been ignored for far too long. This grant will contribute to the advancement of my research and provide a more comprehensive overview of the Civil Rights Movement for the public. Furthermore, it will ensure the preservation of these stories for future generations. Moreover, I will be provided with the necessary resources and support to broaden the scope and impact of my research through the Joan Kelly Memorial Prize Grant. Thanks to this grant, I am eager to continue my research. With the grant's assistance, I can conduct further research, visit archives, and interview individuals. As a result of my research, I have discovered the enormous impact that African American women had on the Civil Rights Movement. As a result of this study, future research will be able to begin, and African American women's achievements during that period will not be forgotten. Furthermore, it is essential to acknowledge that African American women were instrumental in laying the foundations for the progress made and recognizing and celebrating their achievements. To ensure that African American women of the past are not forgotten, our responsibility is to preserve their legacy. As part of the Civil Rights Movement, it is also essential that their stories and contributions are well told and recognized. With the Joan Kelly Memorial Prize Grant, I look forward to being able to advance my research and look forward to the opportunities it will present. During the Civil Rights Movement, African American women showed courage and dedication, and I am committed to continuing my research to raise awareness of their contributions. With the Joan Kelly Memorial Prize Grant, I can continue this vital work with the necessary resources and support.
