NOTE FROM THE EDITOR-IN-CHIEF Jazz Music : Jazz music was a hugely popular trend in the 1920s, with new styles and variations emerging throughout the decade. Jazz was known for its improvisational nature and syncopated rhythms, and was often associated with the speakeasies and dance halls that sprang up during Prohibition. Jazz quickly became a symbol of the era's new sense of freedom and youth culture. Flapper Culture : The flapper culture of the 1920s was defined by a new generation of young women who rejected traditional norms and embraced a more liberated lifestyle. Flappers were known for their short hair, short skirts, and heavy makeup, as well as their love of dancing and partying.
