This source gives insight in the disparities and unconstitutional acts that led to the ruling of desegrated schools, and violence that followed because of so many angry white Americans did not see fit of this. Module 6 Short Responses – Question 2 What events or historical forces contributed to the Boston busing crisis of the mid- 1970s? Name at least three, and briefly explain why you think each one was a contributory cause of the Boston busing crisis. One event that I believed contributed to the Boston busing crisis is in 1954, Brown v Board of Education ruled that segregation was deemed as an unconstitutional act. The Civil Rights Act of 1964, which wanted equal rights for all and because of this, it led to the push for the Racial Imbalance Act. Racial Imbalance act of 1965, which would rid the racial imbalance that was going on the Boston Public Schools. Module 6 Short Responses – Question 3 Name three specific consequences of the Boston busing crisis. Three consequences of the Boston busing crisis are that there was a drop in enrollment due to many violent protests due to busing, many white Americans were against desegregation so the sent their children to private schools, and the disbandment of the school committee. The Event that I will be using for my historical analysis is Brown v. Board of Education. This event led many to see that unconstitutional act such as segregation was not deemed fair amongst many and every individual. A consequence of the event was that there was a lot of revolting and racial violence due to the Boston busing crisis.
