The influx of unskilled Irish immigrants into New York City in the 1840s and early 1850s drives down wages for other workers at the low end of the salary ladder.
The Marxism historical lens I believe is being used in this scenario. The reason being is that it
is talking about wages being driven down for other workers due to the increase in unskilled Irish immigrants. (Economic history lens)
