For my historical event analysis, I have chosen to focus to investigate the Cherokee “
Trail of Tears
”
. In 1830, the Indian Removal Acted was created, making it that the Whites could legally force thousands of Native American people out of their land and forced the Native American people to relocate to other territories. U.S troops forced the Native American people to hike from East of the Mississippi River to Oklahoma. The Native Americans suffered greatly during this hike and led to the loss of 4,000 innocent lives from starvation and others suffered from pother elements. I think that this tragic event is significant because of how much these poor people were uprooted from their land and forced to move somewhere unknown to them and how much damage it caused for the history and legacy of the Cherokee people. Research Question: How much of an impact has the tragic event of the Trail of Tears have on the lives of the Cherokee that are still among us today?
