HIS 100 Module Three Activity Template: Revising Questions Replace the bracketed text below with your responses. Identify the topic you chose to explore: Iranian Revolution Identify a historical perspective that could be applied to your historical event. A historical perspective that can be applied to the Iranian revolution is the political perspective of unfavorable westernization and the question of legitimacy of the Shah. Also, the rise of the Islamic republic into political power mobilizing diverse segments shaping the political landscape. This has affected a lot of aspects in Iran including the relations they have with other countries. Iran has been a country of many conflicts involving many countries including the US and many European members. Revise your research question based on evidence from your primary and secondary sources. How do the consequences the citizens of Iran are faced with as a result of the Iranian revolution differ from what the citizens were faced with during the revolution? After reviewing my primary and secondary sources, I have chosen to try a different question. Would the country of Iran be plunged into the same revolution if the Shah had been a more favorable leader and effect the rise of Islam in the country? Explain how historical perspective and evidence from sources influenced your finalized research question. My finalized research question was a result of reviewing my primary and secondary sources. The rise of Islam has led the citizens of Iran being in constant turmoil and conflict however, with the rule of the old shah the citizens we often in fear of secret police and violent displays of power. This new question challenges whether or not the Islamic movement would have had any traction without the rule of a cruel dictator. If the Shah had been less willing for westernization and more for the people, would the country be in the same position. 1
