2 1-3 Writing Plan Progress Check 1 Topic: Irish Immigration to America The historical event I have chosen to study is Irish Immigration into America. Being an immigrant myself it will be interesting to study and understand the processes they had to endure. Having been through a religious and political conflicts and the promise of land ownership and religious freedom was too much of a good opportunity to give up. The conflict between the Protestants and the Catholics that was at the forefront of the conflict in Ireland carried over to the US. The Potato Blight in the 1840 caused another wave of Irish Immigrants to make their way to America. It is estimated that within 90 years between 1820-1930 4.5million Irish immigrants made their way over to America. Being forced to join the workforce at the bottom of the ladder having to do the job Americans didn’t want to do. They also fought during the civil war in an Irish American regiment. Research Question: What prejudice did the Irish Immigrants face when it came to their pre- establish religion.
