Action Research Proposal: Expected Results… 2 Introduction Burnout is a common problem among preschool teachers, and it can have a significant negative impact on both their performance and the learning environment of their students. According to Reupert, “compared to other professions, educators experience higher levels of stress and depression” (2020). When teachers experience burnout, they may become emotionally exhausted, lose interest in their work, and feel disillusioned about their ability to make a difference in the lives of their students. This can lead to reduced productivity, lower morale, and higher rates of absenteeism. Additionally, burnout can affect a teacher's teaching strategies. Teachers who are burned out may be less patient with their students, less likely to engage in creative or innovative teaching methods, and more likely to rely on rote memorization or standardized testing. This can lead to a less dynamic and engaging learning experience for students, which can in turn lead to lower levels of academic achievement and engagement. Therefore, it is important for schools and administrators to recognize the signs of burnout and take steps to address it. By providing support, resources, and opportunities for professional development, schools can help prevent burnout and ensure that their teachers are able to provide the best possible education to their students. This action research study seeks to investigate the relationship between burnout experienced by preschool teachers and the academic performance of their students. The study will examine the extent to which teacher burnout, stemming from factors such as heavy workload, low job satisfaction, and lack of support, can impact the cognitive and socio-emotional development of young learners. By exploring this research question, the study aims to provide insights into the importance of addressing teacher well-being in early childhood education and

The proposed action research study aims to provide preschool teachers with comprehensive emotional therapy to address and prevent burnout. The intervention plan involves offering counseling services as a mindfulness strategy to the teachers to enable them to cope with stress, manage their emotions, and enhance their emotional well-being (Kriakous et al., 2020). The study will conduct a thorough assessment of the teachers' emotional needs, followed by the development of a customized therapeutic approach to address their specific needs. The study will also evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention plan in enhancing the teachers' emotional well-being and reducing burnout. The proposed study recognizes the critical role of preschool teachers in shaping the early development of children and seeks to provide them with the necessary support to enable them to perform their duties effectively. Hypothesis for the Outcome of the Proposed Research Study Hypothesis 1 After conducting an extensive review of the existing literature on burnout as it relates to teachers, I have formulated a hypothesis for my proposed action research study. My analysis suggests that the implementation of counseling services has the potential to significantly reduce burnout among teachers, resulting in a host of positive outcomes for both the educators and the students. By providing teachers with access to counseling services, they will have a safe space to discuss their feelings and concerns, learn coping mechanisms, and receive support and guidance from mental health professionals. This, in turn, will lead to a reduction in stress and burnout, which will improve teacher well-being, job satisfaction, and overall mental and mental health. According to O’Connor as cited in (Ntim et al., 2023), “In education, emotional labor has proven to be a key component of what makes outstanding teachers in terms of achieving meaningful socio-emotional and educational outcomes” (2008). They will be able to devote more time and energy to planning and delivering engaging lessons, providing constructive feedback, and building positive relationships with their students. Ultimately, this will result in a more productive and harmonious learning environment for everyone involved (Herman et al., 2017). Hypothesis 2 Based on the first hypothesis, my second prediction is that if measures are implemented to reduce teacher stress, such as providing them with adequate resources and support through counseling, it will have a positive impact on student learning outcomes. Specifically, students will be able to demonstrate an optimal improvement in their learning outcomes, which will be assessed through their portfolios. By reducing teacher stress, we can create a more conducive learning environment that allows teachers to focus on their teaching responsibilities and students to focus on their learning goals. How the Research Question Will Change or Improve as a Result of the Study Teachers play a crucial role in shaping the minds of the next generation. However, they are not immune to burnout, which can occur due to various factors such as workload, classroom management, student behavior, and so on. Burnout can have a significant impact on the teaching strategies that teachers implement, which, in turn, can affect the learning outcomes of students. Therefore, it is important to conduct a detailed analysis of the relationship between burnout and teaching strategies. Instead of merely examining the effects of burnout on learning outcomes, in

This approach would help to identify the specific teaching strategies that are affected by burnout and understand how they impact the learning outcomes of students. By taking a more detailed approach, intel can help gain a better understanding of the complex relationship between burnout, teaching strategies, and student learning outcomes. This, in turn, can help develop effective interventions and support systems to prevent burnout and improve the overall quality of education. Critique of Own Understanding of Action Research as a Result of Constructing the Action Research Proposal Throughout the duration of this course, I have gained extensive knowledge and a much deeper understanding of the concept of action research. Starting from week 1, I was introduced to various aspects of this methodology, including its history, principles, and practical applications. I learned that action research is a participatory, collaborative, and iterative process that involves identifying a problem, planning an intervention, taking action, reflecting on the results, and refining the approach. Through engaging with course materials, participating in class discussions, and conducting my own research project, I have come to appreciate the value of action research as an effective means of addressing real-world problems in different contexts. I learned that action research is not just about finding solutions, but also about building relationships, fostering dialogue, and empowering stakeholders. Moreover, I learned that action research can be applied in various fields, such as education, health, social work, and community development, among others. I also learned about the ethical and methodological issues related to

Overall, my experience in this course has greatly enhanced my understanding of action research and its potential to drive positive change in various fields. I feel more confident now in applying the principles and practices of action research in my own work and in collaborating with others to tackle complex problems. Action Research in My Current Role and Being a Change Agent In my role as a Training and Curriculum Specialist, I have recently delved into the world of action research, a powerful tool that enables me to delve deeper into the complex issues that arise within the field of early childhood education. Through this process, I am able to identify and analyze a range of challenges, such as the effectiveness of various teaching strategies and other pertinent concerns. By working closely with teachers and management, I can gain a comprehensive understanding of the unique needs of each educational program that I am affiliated with, and develop tailored solutions to address any issues that may arise. With the help of action research, I am able to apply a structured and systematic approach to problem-solving, and create meaningful change that will benefit both teachers and students alike. As a Training and Curriculum Specialist, I am excited to leverage my newfound understanding of action research to drive positive outcomes in the field of early childhood education, and help shape the future of our next generation.
