Describe the advantages and disadvantages of three of the CAM modalities discussed in this chapter. Page No # 88 and 89 Answer: one of the advantages in the 3 of the CAM Modalities is that it is tailored to that specific person to make sure the best result is provided. The disadvantage would be if anything is imbalanced or handled inappropriately it can result in illnesses. 2. Describe how the laws in the United States affects CAM practices. Page No # 93 and 94 Answer: Some of the laws affect the CAM practices because certain laws prevent the passing of some “natural” remedies. Chapter 5 (Public Health): 1. What is health literacy and why is it important? Page No # 111 Answer: Health Literacy is a combination of Personal Health Literacy and Organizational Health Literacy, which means either knowing for yourself the issues with your health or the use of equipment to learn what is going on with you. Health Literacy is important because everyone should be able to know what is going on with them and not only know but to understand what is going on with them and knowing the proper precautions and routes to take to heal 2. What are the concepts of the Health Belief Model and the PRECEDE-PROCEED Model? Page No # 121 Answer: The concepts for the HBM is Perceived Threat, Perceived susceptibility, Perceived severity, Perceived benefits, Perceived barriers, and Cues to action. The concepts for the PRECEDE-PROCEED Model would be Predisposing factors, Enabling factors, and Reinforcing factors Chapter 12 ( The Macro Cultures Related to Health and Healthcare System): 1. Discuss how the culture of Capitalism impacts health behaviors and costs. Page No # 298
Answer: Capitalism impacts health behaviors and costs because when marketing begins to rise, prices begins to rise. When prices begins to rise people become more willing to make far commutes which also ignites issues in the healthcare providers 2. Discuss how consumers impacts health care. Page No # 292 Answer: Consumers are enticed to make purchases regarding their health so that forces the demand to go up which oftentimes forces prices to rise Chapter 13 ( Closing the Gap: Strategies for Eliminating Health Disparities): 1. Describe what cultural competence is and why it is important. Page No # 315 Answer: Cultural competence is a set of congruent behaviors, attitudes, and policies that come together in a system, agency, or among professionals that enables effective work in cross-cultural situations. It is important because it allows for an increased understanding and appreciation of cultural differences. 2. List at least four national goals for eliminating health disparities. Page No # 313 Answer: Leadership, Health system and life experience, Cultural and linguistic competency, Data, research, and evaluation.
