The Effects of Alcohol on Nutritional Status
If Louisa continues on this pathway throughout her college career, what social, physical, and mental difficulties might she face?
Should Louisa continue with her excessive alcohol consumption and inadequate eating while in college, she is likely to find herself facing some serious physical, emotional, and even social challenges. These include strained social relationships, isolation, or tarnished reputations. She is at risk of malnutrition, weight loss, hypoglycemia, and other diseases. Chronic heavy drinking can lead to liver disease, pancreatitis, and brain damage, all of which affect her general health status (Buddy, 2020). Taken together, alcohol consumption coupled with a nutritional deficiency may affect cognition, decreased interest in activities, and poor concentration in studies that will endanger her grades and eventually affect her mental state.
Discuss how alcohol affects the brain, liver, and other organs.
There are different impacts of alcohol on the body. It hinders neurotransmission in the brain, resulting in cognitive disorders that could be permanent or last for some time. Chronic intake of ethanol eventually causes fatty liver, alcoholic hepatitis, and cirrhosis as the liver metabolizes it. They include pancreatitis and cardiovascular problems, and other organs suffer adverse influences. Similarly, chronic alcohol consumption interferes with nutrient uptake, which eventually leads to malnutrition as well (Buddy, 2020). Therefore, it is clear that despite its effects on the brain, liver and other organs, moderation helps prevent any negative health implications.
Provide a thorough review of how alcohol may affect Louisa's nutritional status.
Her alcohol intake threatens the nutritional state of Louisa. Alcohol also impedes the digestion of nutrients and may result in malnourishment. These issues are further augmented by

her habit of going out on an empty stomach stress. The effect of alcohol on vitamins and minerals, as well as the provision of energy, could lead to shortages. Such a poor nutritional state
may have serious health implications on the organs and total body health.
What suggestions would you have for how Louisa could obtain support for modifying her use of alcohol in her life?
Louisa may find solace in expressing her worry to her close relatives and friends. One can seek assistance from university counselling services and substance abuse programs. Participation in groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous has a lot of useful information (Buddy, 2020). Such healthy habits include limiting one’s drinking patterns and eating moderately to attain overall health.
