Hi class, For this week’s topic I chose the research question, “What is the most effective recovery tool for weight training?”. Starting with this question, researchers could put together an effective study topic designed to drill down
to an unmet or poorly met need in the market for their organization to capitalize on. For research, I would take this question and give five to seven different popular options for recovery. I would use those common modalities and assign an answer scale to each of them to rate their effectiveness. According to Lomas (2020), this is the most effective method of gathering an accurate idea as to the strength of the feelings for each option. From here the research team could ask further questions such as why they think
the methods are effective and what makes a person more or less likely to use a certain method. This would give an idea of the barriers consumers have when considering these different methods, thus potentially creating opportunities. This information could be used to see what recovery methods consumers see as effective, which creates an opportunity for the company to create a product that aligns with this need. Further questions could identify issues with the current products on the market and create ways to make the new product superior, whether that relates to price or certain features not available on current products. This creates insight into where consumers are willing to spend their money and what influences their decision when buying this type of product. Reference
