Modified from Love to live well Assessment created by Anna Love (Founder, Love to Live Well), 2010 Using the modified Love to Live Well
, describe your overall recommendations for health promotion or wellness interventions for your interview family. Please list two or
more interventions in comprehensive detail.
The family I chose is a family of five. Two adults and three children, all girls. The father is in his late 30s while mom is in her early 30s. The children range in age from one year old to five years old. The family as a whole is moderately healthy. Dad and mom are both overweight. The children are in the 90
th
percentile in height and weight. Dad is a heavy smoker and moderate drinker. He smokes two packs of cigarettes each day and drinks 10-12 beers per week. He has done this for the last 20 years. My first wellness intervention will be dietary with some physical activity. A healthy diet mixed in with some daily exercise will bring down mom and dad’s weight, while promoting a healthy lifestyle for their young ones. I will recommend cutting out sugars like candy and soda first. I believe that will be an easy way to ease the family into a healthier lifestyle. The second intervention I plan to implement is to have dad cut back on the smoking and drinking. By reducing the number of cigarettes he smokes per day he will add years on to his life so he can be around for his family much longer. A pack of 20 cigarettes take an estimated four hours off your lifespan. If I can get him down to one pack per day, he can get back one day of life for each week he only smokes one pack a day, versus two. Create a concise patient teaching plan for communicating and educating the Health Promotion/Wellness recommendations/interventions to your interview family? What will you say? How will you provide the information? For example, will you use handouts or a video? Will you speak to the whole family or just certain members? Patient Teaching Plan

out sugary drinks like soda and juice and to increase exercise three to five times per week.
2. Reduce smoking
Smoking tabaco is a leading cause of cancer
(almost anywhere in the
body) and emphysema. Smoking cessation videos to illustrate the damage cigarettes cause to the lungs and throat.
A health promotion is to cut back smoking from two packs daily, down to one. Reflect on this experience and the lessons you have learned I was able to learn a lot from this lesson. It is common knowledge that smoking and eating too much sugar is bad
for the body, but you never know just how much of it someone else is doing. It is also interesting to learn that although it may be common knowledge, there are people who still don’t quite understand the severity of their actions. Diabetes, cancer, emphysema, and obesity are all very serious illnesses that are the result of smoking and overindulging. It is imperative that we understand the damage we can cause our bodies if we aren’t cautious about the substances we put into them. Rubric NOTE:
All assignments must be submitted on time. Assignments submitted after the deadline will be accepted up to 48 hours with 5 late points off per day. Assignments will receive a grade of zero after 48
hours. Use this rubric to guide your work on the Module 2-1 assignment.
