1-3 Short Paper: Leadership and Commitment to Quality
Being productive rather than reactive is very important today. When it comes to our healthcare industry, they must be able to keep up with the latest technology with equipment as well as software. They must be able to keep up to have the latest, so they are not falling behind with what is happening in the world. One thing I learned while I worked in healthcare was being ready to always change the way we did things. I worked in a position for a year, and we were told had to enter a referral about five different times in that year that I was there. It was very frustrating having to learn the new way to enter a referral but at the end of the day it was much easier to do so than before so I do recommend going with the change as it makes the job easier and faster it also helped being able to keep up with the latest with the competitors as if you're trying to stay on top of the competition you have to go with what is out there and what is going to be faster so you're able to have those patients in and out. If the leader is not for the change, then it would sink with those employees because they will not be successful with the change when the leader is all for the change, they are most likely to have a great leader that desires to become more into what is new what technology they will have the skills that are necessary to make sure that this change is successful. Executive leaders must lead the way the hospital and other healthcare facilities performed. They must make sure they are offering quality and safety practices in each location. Having a system that is monitored so no one can get into it and get patients personal information is the best way of having a security server to have those hackers stay away from people’s health history and personal information. Everyone makes mistakes but when it comes to the medical industry it is very crucial to make a medical error when it comes to a patient's chart it is very important that whoever is entering information into the chart does not mess up or cross information from other patients this
can cost life threatening conditions to a patient if the wrong medication is given. By having the latest software for the medical history of a patient couldn't cost less errors and have high quality patient care because they are able to provide them with what they need based off their medical chart. In my last job we used the system called epic, epic is very known over here in Washington state as other big healthcare facilities use it so we are able to see other medical records from patients being seen in different clinics so they are able to get the care that they need at their appropriate time I used to work with the surgeons who have it was very crucial to have a patients full medical history to know exactly what has been going on any other surgeries that a patient has had or anything that could prevent the patient from getting a surgery I really liked epic because it showed us everything that we needed to know we could go back to 10 years of a patient's health record it was very hard when getting records from other states that we were not familiar with and we couldn't see all the patients care so it was based off what the patient would have to tell us about their conditions and the surgeon had to go from there. To improve the healthcare facility every healthcare organization must make the necessary change it is out there to develop 1/4 incapable balance between what is important and what is currently out there this is all up to their mangers to implement the change.
