What is full practice autonomy?
•
State practice and licensure laws permit all NPs to evaluate patients; diagnose, order and interpret diagnostic tests; and initiate and manage treatments, including prescribing medications and controlled substances, under the exclusive licensure authority of the state board of nursing. This is the model recommended by the National Academy of Medicine, formerly called the Institute of Medicine, and the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (American Association of Nurse Practitioners, 2021).
Importance of full practice autonomy

Improves access
•
Streamlines Care and Makes Care Delivery More Efficient
•
Improve patient experience of care
(American Association of Nurse Practitioners, 2021)

Representation of case
•
Media advocacy is the strategic use of media to apply pressure to advance a social or public policy initiative (Mason, Gardner, Outlaw, & O'Grady, 2020).
•
Using media would help attract stakeholders to support policy changes. •
Media would help with the representation of the case and attain attention to influence the change. •
Reasons to have Full Practice Authority
•
Alleviate the anticipated health care provider shortage
•
Evidence suggests that care and treatment from NPs in primary health care is equal to that provided by medical practitioners
•
Preparation required for NPs is at least as extensive, both in terms of time and level of award, compared with the preparation for medical practitioners.
What is a Stakeholder?
•
A stakeholder is a person or independent party with an interest or concern for something, especially a business. •
Stakeholder mobilization is necessary to influence the development of public policies (Mason, Gardner, Outlaw, & O'Grady, 2020).
•
The first set of stakeholders that I would want to appeal would be the patients/community. •
Patients are consumers or clients of our healthcare system
