2 Healthy Aging and Social Determinants Social determinants of health encompass a variety of economic, social, and environmental factors that may influence the general health and well-being of an individual. Critical considerations include food and nutrition, a reliable source of income, affordable and secure housing, a secure neighbourhood, and reliable transportation ( Michel & Sadana, 2017). Poverty-related health outcomes result from socioeconomic disparities in health determinants that impede access to vital medical care for certain communities. Proper Food and Nutrition To maintain optimal health, individuals of all ages must consume a well-balanced diet. Insufficient intake of relevant nutrients can lead to malnutrition and deficiencies. Individuals with a lower socioeconomic status may have less access to nutritious, well- balanced foods, rendering them more vulnerable to illness in comparison to their affluent counterparts ( Michel & Sadana, 2017). According to studies, there is a higher likelihood of comorbidities among individuals of inferior socioeconomic status. To maintain an active and healthy lifestyle, seniors must have access to dependable, affordably priced sources of nutrient-dense food. Occasionally, the elderly are confronted with situations that require them to make difficult decisions. Are they able to cover the costs of medical care, housing, and food? To resolve the issue of low-income families lacking access to sustenance, it is necessary to develop new services. Seniors would enjoy improved health, increased access to surrogate families, and decreased healthcare expenditures if these regulations were implemented. Pregnant individuals will receive the necessary support to continue residing independently in their own residences, resulting in a reduction in mortality rates.
3 Steady Income and Finances A consistent income is critical for the contentment and well-being of seniors who opt to reside independently in their own residences. The enhancement of financial stability is correlated with enhanced mental health. Financial difficulties may have a negative impact on one's physical and emotional well-being, including gastrointestinal issues. This holds true for the elderly and the poor in particular. While ailing, financial instability influences the health- seeking behaviour of older individuals ( Brennan-Olsen, et al ., 2019). The inability of low- income seniors to afford routine examinations and other preventive medical care is due to financial constraints. Consequently, they are susceptible to signs of health decline. Healthcare expenses have a direct effect on the health and well-being of the elderly. Prescription drug costs, accommodation expenses, and medical expenditures are all obligations that can be met exclusively by individuals who possess stable incomes. Preliminary data indicates that a considerable proportion of the populace resides in impoverished conditions. The residents of that locality do not enjoy health-promoting living conditions as they age. They lack adequate healthcare because they are unable to pay for essential medical care and prescription medications. Affordable and Secure Housing Facilities The provision of secure accommodation is critical for the health and well-being of the elderly, given the distinct challenges and susceptibilities that this demographic faces. Numerous health hazards, including exposure to cold, unsanitary living conditions, and other potential dangers, are diminished when an individual ages in place ( Michel & Sadana, 2017). Deprived seniors may be unable to afford suitable housing, thereby increasing their vulnerability.

4 Reliable Means of Transport Secure Environment Community-based services and mobility options may contribute to enhanced health outcomes for the elderly. A correlation has been established in numerous studies between increased levels of social support and decreased incidences of mortality, mental disorders, and physical ailments ( Robles, et al ., 2023). Residing in a community that promotes social interaction and a sense of meaning as a means to facilitate healthy aging could be advantageous for some seniors. For the efficient operation of these communities, access to fundamental resources is essential. Especially for senior citizens with mobility issues, the space should be capacious to accommodate their needs. Negative health effects may result from low-income seniors' inability to afford suitable living conditions. Accident and health risk rates are typically higher in communities that are both hazardous and welcoming.
