Covid 19 And the Strict Regulations in Canada. How Did It Change the Way You Saw the World? Student Name Institutional Affiliation Course Name Professor’s Name Date Covid 19 And the Strict Regulations in Canada. How Did It Change the Way You Saw the World?
When Covid 19 pandemic struck the world in late 2019 and spread all over in early 2020, many countries, Canada included closed their borders and devised other strict regulations to protect the lives of their citizens. These regulations completely altered the way I viewed the world. This pandemic has had different adverse impacts to the world population. This pandemic largely alienated people from their friends and distant relatives. The Covid 19 adverse impacts ranged from restrictions in movement, work was redefined, institutions closure, compulsory break for most sports, living in fear of contracting the disease and passing it to family members, economic crisis and generally life became boring. In retrospect, this paper provides detailed information on how covid 19 pandemic changed my perspective on the world based on its negative impacts to the world’s population as listed above. Covid 19 pandemic led to work being redefined. When the disease spread to Canada, protective health regulation that aimed at reducing overcrowding and human contact were put in place. Therefore, many organizations resolved to working from home with no physical visits to the work sites. Working from home and virtual teleconferencing became the norm for most white-collar employees substituting daily commutes to places of work. However, this created more time for parents to interact with their kids though in the climate of suspicion and fear. Some workers were stripped off their prestige and recognition. However, in other sectors such as the frontline staff in healthcare industry, supermarkets and delivery workers became the most crucial workers in the lockdown era. Additionally, this pandemic led to some workers losing their jobs such as taxi drivers, casual workers in factories and processing industries. Some workers evidently risked contracting the virus rather than losing their precious income. This changed how I viewed the world as I was used to people commuting to places of work and back home daily.
Less vehicles on the highways were also new to my eyesight and this confirmed to me that such pandemic can clear human race from the face of the earth whenever not tackled correctly. Educational institutions were closed for quite long. The Covid 19 pandemic caused a huge disruption to education in my city, Ontario. These disruptions were felt all over the country and were in the form of mass education institutions closure, increased gaps in the support of the people living with disabilities and a need to look for new models of education provision such as e-learning. Before the pandemic I never thought that e-learning would replace physical learning, however, after the covid 19 pandemic my perception was greatly changed. Due to a pool of hardships associated with the pandemic, low-income families, racialized minorities, and people with disabilities were mostly affected by the closure of educational facilities. This closure of institution also had a huge negative impact on my life as it alienated me from my school friends and I felt lonely. Most of my hockey training seasons I conducted while at school, therefore its closure meant that I could not train anymore with my team. However, with the lessons learnt from the pandemic, the Canadian government should put up measures that ensures that such uncertainties in the future will not have major disrupting effects to the education sector as it did during the covid era. Life changed to a norm of social distancing and wearing treated face masks. Wearing non-medical face masks was not a common practice before the Covid 19 pandemic. However, after the virus reached Canada, everything completely changed and non-medical masks were seen as the first available means of reducing the spread of the virus. Every citizen in Canada was living in suspicion and fear since anyone could contract the virus anytime and could transmit it to family members. Therefore, in the climax of the pandemic, life turned to indoor activity, with every citizen fearing going out to contract a virus. While in the residential houses, every citizen

observed hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette through face masks, and maintaining physical social distances. Hand hygiene involved using alcohol-based hand sanitizers and soap to wash hands. People lived in panic especially when in crowds. Especially the most vulnerable population especially the elderly, people with other underlying health conditions such as diabetes and hypertension lived in much panic as they were at the verge of succumbing to the virus. The virus led to compulsory break of all sporting activities in Canada. Not only in Canada, the whole world came into standstill for over 4 months with no sporting activities taking place. It was a precautionary measure that helped reduce much body contacts and overcrowding that would result to higher risks of the virus spread. This changed how I viewed the world, such that people cannot stay without participating or watching sporting activities. However, during this period everyone including the sportsmen stayed indoors protecting themselves from the virus. It was so boring. I was directly affected by this stoppage of sporting activities as over the course of the 2 years of frequent lockdowns brought by different variants of Corona Virus, my hockey season has never stabilized. It has been an on and off activity, making sporting life so boring. Alongside sporting activities, restaurants, bars, beaches and other places of partying and entertainment have been entirely changed by the pandemic. There has been constant closing and reopening of these facilities has affected the entertainment industry. Musicians and other concert performers have been for so long been kept away from the stage as any activities that could attract huge crowds without observing the social distancing guidelines were banned by the administration. People were forced to turn to other sources of entertainment such as Netflix for streaming movies and TV shows. Entertainment life had a complete turnaround. My perception that the world cannot run without entertainment in terms of sports, music and live concerts was
completely changed and a belief that a virus can cause international crisis on the sector was implanted into my mind. Covid 19 pandemic restrictions led to disruption of global and local travels for quite a long time. border lockdowns and restrictions of movement across the globe changed how is used to view the world. I thought that with financial ability one could move to any country of interest anytime they wanted for vacation. However, with the onset of the virus, air travels as well as water and land transport were restricted to contain the spread of virus. This further affected the tourism sector, whose most of their workers lost their jobs. In brief, the covid 19 pandemic has had different adverse impacts on all sectors of life that changed how I viewed the world. For instance, as discussed above, jobs were redesigned, education was greatly disrupted, sports and the entertained sector was adversely affected, life changed to a new norm of wearing face masks and social distances, people lived in panic and suspicion, and disruption of local and abroad travels. From this I learned that a certain global health crisis like the Corona Virus pandemic can completely change the face of human life over the world.
