Explore the current COVID19 health issue that has impacted the Australian
population from a political, cultural and national perspective.
Introduction to the Topic One of the most dangerous disease which is currently going on in the world is COVID 19 from
which the whole world is suffering. This disease emerged from China and from there it spread all over
the world. The impact of this disease is mainly on the respiratory system of a human being and the
symptoms also includes cold, cough, sneezing, fever and some more normal issues but the ignorance
could result in severe consequences. In the earlier stages of COVID 19, it is not possible to identify its
symptoms because everything goes on normal but with the passing of time, the situation goes on
worsening. This virus attacks on the respiratory system of human being which makes it difficult for
him/her to breathe and later on results in death if proper medical treatment is not provided to him.
Currently, there is no vaccine for this disease so according to the guidelines of Government of Australia
and World Health Organisation, the only precaution that could be taken to avoid this disease is
maintaining social distancing. Avoiding contact with other people could help in dealing better with this
diseases. Additionally, taking proper sanitation facilities will also help in reducing chances of getting
affected from COVID 19. Contribution of Political, Social, Geographical and Cultural Factors in Reducing Number of
Deaths in Australia
In order to make reduction in the level of deaths due to COVID 19, the contribution of different factors is
of great essence not only in Australia but in different parts of the world. Without their support, reducing
the impact of COVID 19 to this level will not be possible (Dryhurst and et. al. 2020)
. While discussing
about political factors, it can be said that the development of government policies in relation to the
COVID 19 situation, helped a lot in controlling daily activities of people and improving the situation. The

policies such as maintaining social distancing, lockdown, developing guidelines from COVID 19 are some
of the special steps taken by the Australian Government in order to deal with COVID 19 and reducing
number of deaths in the country (Bui, Button and Picciotti, 2020)
. Along with this, the social factors such as people, society, companies are also coming ahead to help the
needful. Looking from the company’s perspectives, they are making their contribution to fight against
COVID 19 by giving donations to the government so that they could provide better facilities to the
people suffering from COVID 19 (Moloney and Moloney, 2020)
. Along with this, people from different
areas are providing food and other basic facilities to the needful people who are daily earners and are
affected much because of this situation. Societal awareness is created by informing people about social
distancing and the benefits that an individual and the community will have by maintaining it (Rhodes
and et. al., 2020)
. Taking an example of McDonald Company, it has separated its logo from ‘m’ to ‘n n’
which tells about social distancing to be maintained in order to deal with the current situation of COVID
19 (La and et. al., 2020)
. The two parts of ‘m’ delivers the message of social distancing to the people in
order to prevent themselves (Higgins-Desbiolles, 2020)
. Taking consideration of geographical factors, it
can be said that these types of factors provides us with the information related to hotspots analysis in
which we will come to know about areas where the COVID 19 is spreading at a faster rate. So we will be
able to keep ourselves away from those type of areas in order prevent ourselves and can also inform
others. Coming to the cultural factors which has also helped in reducing impact of COVID 19 in Australia
is related to closing down of cultural institutions, tourist places, cancellation of cultural events,
suspension of community cultural practises, cancellation of artist meet end programs which helped in
reducing the contacts from person to person and this helped a lot in controlling the increasing issues of
COVID 19 in Australia (Acter and et. al., 2020)
. However, the adoption of these techniques were also
done by other countries but till that time, a large area of population was effected badly from COVID 19
2
and it become impossible to control it. This led to increase in the number of deaths in different countries
in comparison to Australia. Discussion in Terms of Determinants of Health, Why Older Men’s Death are more in
Comparison to 20s and 30s aged Australian Females
There are different determinants of health such as healthy child development, education and literacy,
social support networks, social environments, physical environments, personal health practises and
coping skills, employment or working conditions are some of the important determinants of health
(Montenovo and et. al., 2020)
. Considering the first determinant of health which is a reason of
increasing number of deaths of older men in Australia in comparison to females is child development, in
which parents take care of their children in a better way by giving them proper diet, nutritional food,
and also proper workout for being healthy and active. Parents guide their kids about proper sanitation
which helped in increasing their immunity level (Yancy, 2020)
. In relation to the current situation,
parents also educated and guided their children to keep distance from another person’s and this also
helps a lot to keep them safe. Employment working conditions is another determinant of health
because females between 20s and 30s done their work from home and this helps them to maintain a
social distance from others and also keep them busy instead of that older men gather together which
increases the chances of transmission of COVID 19 from one person to another (Wolf and et. al., 2020)
.
Along with this, their immunity level is also low which creates more chances of being affected from the
virus. The third determinant of health is Education and Literacy. The younger age was indulged in doing
some office works or was busy in their studies. This reduced the interaction with each other and they
also took seriously the situation of COVID 19 (Khalatbari-Soltani and et. al., 2020)
. Coming to the older
age it has been noticed that their lack of education and ignorance to COVID 19 resulted in increasing in
number of deaths. With the help of above discussion, it has been made clear that there are different
3
determinants of health because of which death rates of older men are more in Australia in comparison
to females falling in between the age of 20s and 30s (Lai and et. al., (2020)
. Reflection on the Impact of Determinants of Health on the Health of Communities or Individuals
From the above data, I think that there is a severe impact of determinants of health on the health
of individuals or communities in Australia. As there are different determinants of health of which some
were ignored by the people who resulted in increasing issues of COVID 19 in the country. An example
could be taken of ignorance of seriousness of COVID 19 which caused a lot of increasing cases of COVID
19. However, my assumption was also related to ignorance as firstly, I did not take this pandemic
seriously and did not follow any precaution to deal with the situation. But with the passing when I come
to know about increasing issues of COVID 19 and deaths, I realised the seriousness of the situation and
started taking precautions to prevent myself from COVID 19. These precautions were related to
maintaining social distancing, proper sanitizing, staying at home and many more. During the current
situation, I started to work on my hobbies, reading novels, planning for my future plans for career as
time should not be wasted. Also, I did not think of going on this situation for this much period of time
which was unexpected by me and I think from your side as well. But as we can see, the current situation
is also like the same in which there is no other option than staying at home and praying for the better
tomorrow. Conclusion
From the following data, the conclusion is drawn about importance of contribution of different
factors such as political, social, geographical, and cultural have played a vital role in reducing and
controlling the number of deaths and COVID 19 situation in Australia. Additionally, it has also been
concluded that the different determinants of health could help not only in preventing from COVID 19
situation but will also help in improving the personal life of an individual as well. Further, conclusion has

been drawn about considering the seriousness of situation, and taking corrective actions which will help
in reducing the cases of COVID 19 and to give a better tomorrow to the humanity.
