Leadership is the possession of a set of skills and talents that are essential for anybody occupying a managerial or leadership role. Future public health professionals are no exception in the acquisition of essential leadership skills and talents, since it is a tool that can be used to direct and encourage other people to work toward a shared objective. It is therefore important to understand leadership styles and traits as a future public health professional, to discern the various kinds and characteristics of leadership, and to be in a better position to understand the requirements of the group and to choose the most effective methods for bringing about the needed result.
Recourses and budgetary allocation are among frequent challenges confronting most public health leaders in implementing reforms in a timely manner. It is important therefore that awareness of personal leadership style and the acquisition of a set of talents will help a future public health leader in navigating and leading a public health program. Understanding different
leadership styles and characteristics is important in order for a public health professional to be effective in the discharge of their duties, (Swayne, L. E., et al, 2018).
