This discussion post has two parts.
Part 1: Continued Quality Improvement
The United Stated has had the highest health care costs in the world, but the quality of care
has been ranked at the bottom of the industrial countries. The Patient Protection and
Affordable Care Act has prompted high quality of care with lower costs. Over the past
decade, health care organizations have striven to meet various quality measures. However,
there is still a long way to go.
In your initial post,
Discuss the evolution of the quality improvement movement from the global
perspective.
Describe the relationship between health care quality and continuous quality
improvement.
Support your response with at least two scholarly sources published within the last 5
years. For guidance, use the

Part 2: Accreditation
Accreditation is an external review process that allows health care organizations to
demonstrate their ability to meet regulatory requirements and predetermined
performance standards established by a recognized accreditation entity. Even though
accreditation is voluntary and has fees associated with it, there are financial and legal
incentives for health care organizations to seek accreditation. For this part of your discussion,
you have been assigned an organization to research (see the list above).
Review the information on your assigned accrediting organization based on your last name,
and address the following:
Describe the organization, including the mission, programs, and services.
Identify benefits to obtain accreditation from your assigned accrediting organization.
Select one accreditation program from your assigned accrediting organization, and
explain why it is important.
Your initial post of Part 1 and Part 2 should be a minimum of 500 words.
Guided Response:
Review your classmates’ posts, and provide a substantive response to at
least two of your classmates who have been assigned to a

organization. In your peer replies, identify interesting facts, differences, or similarities
presented by your classmates. Each response must be a minimum of 100 words. You are

meaningful and interactive discourse in your discussions.
The Quality improvement movement started in the 1970s. "The quality movement can trace
its roots back to medieval Europe, where craftsmen began organizing into unions called
guilds in the late 13th century. The birth of total quality in the United States was in direct
response to a quality revolution in Japan following World War II, as major Japanese
manufacturers converted from producing military goods for internal use to producing civilian
goods for trade (ASQ, 2015)." Quality improvement has been incorporated within multiple
healthcare facilities throughout the world as a method to promote patient-centered care at
lower costs. It was made to make healthcare better. Quality improvement has really come a
long way over the years. "Health care organizations increasingly strive to deliver care that is
both evidence based, and patient centered. Although often complementary, fundamental

contradictions may exist between these goals, and the organizational culture and
infrastructure necessary to be successful in one domain may inherently diminish performance
in the other (Engle et al., 2019)."
For this discussion I have Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC). "When it
comes to health care, accreditation refers to the official review process that allows
organizations like yours to demonstrate their ability to meet official regulatory requirements
and standards (ACHC, 2021).” The recertification process is very challenging for individuals
because Medicare has changed their standards. If you used our home health care business and
ACHC Accreditation previously to become Medicare or Private Duty Accredited, you can be

accreditations in the healthcare field. The program I chose is Acute Care Hospital
Accreditation. This means that your hospital has to deliver the best quality care to every

2023a).” “You must be prepared to provide patients with a variety of experienced clinicians
who can diagnose and treat a wide range of symptoms, conditions, illnesses, and injuries.
