Rebuttal The industry that I am in is healthcare. Thus, this type of business that I am employed at is huge and spans over 2 states with multiple locations of hospitals, clinics, urgent care, and free walk-in clinics. Thus, we use the same Electronic Medical Record system, so we stay connected throughout the organization. However, the healthcare industries have figured out how to capture, manage, and process the data on a very large scale. When overviewing data into actionable insights for companies, non-profit organizations, and governments. How does healthcare use big data, you ask? According to Batko and Siezak (2022), “The use of Big Data Analytics can literally revolutionize the way healthcare is practiced for better health and disease reduction” (Batko & Siezak, 2022). Thus, I do know the Epic program is highly sophisticated networking and is an Internet-based program that supplies data to thousands of external sites around the organization. Such as telehealth home visits. I do know it is complex, has a high volume of data coming in and going out, and works in a high-volume variety of facets. This big data plays a critical role in patient's healthcare and virtually lowers the cost of healthcare and insurance due to the integration of Epic into many facilities that practice outside my organization other providers can view recent testing and do not have to reorder, nor do they have to prescribe medication the patient may already be taking which cuts the cost of un-needed change in medications helping the cost of medications go down and helping the patient out with cost. According to Choi, Lee, and Rhee (2013), “Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems have numerous benefits, such as improvement in the quality of care, medical error prevention, and reduction of unnecessary care costs” (Chol, Lee, & Rhee, 2013, para, 4) Not to mention the firewalls that are put up on a grand level to protect the privacy of patient’s information. To launch telehealth services effectively, a digital health company must be able to deploy clinicians who are fully licensed to practice in the state where the patient is located, armed with the right technology to yield a quality experience for both the clinician and the patient. I helped launch telemedicine in many areas of our healthcare organization sites. However, the complexity of telehealth is much more than people know and it must be flexible in nature. Telehealth is a model for developing complex interventions in Nursing from and to remote locations. Telehealth is a broader term. It includes telemedicine. But it also includes things like training for health care providers, health care administrative meetings, and services provided by pharmacists and social workers (MedlinePlus, 2020). References:
