Public Health Career Profile KINE 4357 Introduction A public health prevention specialist is a routine role within public health careers. Public health prevention specialists from entry level to advanced level five partakes in the same job roles just at various stages. These roles include preparing and hosting public health educational programs. They are responsible for preparing the educational materials, working both individually and as a team. They also assist various community organizations and government entities. Job Description Public Health Prevention Specialist performs numerous tasks while under the directions of the Womens’s Health and Reproduction Epidemiologist and Surveillance Director. This is in relation to the discoveries and management of everything that falls under women’s health. Including investigational research data, report tracking, and data entry. Responsible for aiding in the development of short-term, mid-term, and long-term objectives and goals. Job Requirements Graduate from a four-year university with a major in public health. Experience in applicable public health programs. Education is an appropriate substitute for public health experience. Experience in interpreting and organizing data into reports for ease of understanding. Ability to work independently and solve complex problems. Familiarity with various database software systems, word processing, and excel spreadsheets. Verbal and written communication skills. Compensation and Employment Outlook Public Health Prevention Specialist salary ranges from $34,144 to $88,703 under The State of Texas. ((Public Health and Prevention Specialist I) The salary range includes positions from entry level to level five. According to Zip Recruiter, the national average for this position is about $63,958. This is slightly above the average salary in Texas which is about $59,643. On top of a competitive salary, a generous benefits package is offered.
