Alexis 6/6/23 GEOG100 12.3 Non-Renewable Resources-- Oil 1. Summarize: What are two things you learned from your assigned section of the textbook chapter? Crude oil is the leading source of primary energy consumed in the world. And since crude oil is extracted from the ground it must be refined. 2. Define: Identify and define one term that is useful to understand this reading. Fracking- process of injecting chemically treated water and sand underground to breakopen tight oil bearing rock formations. 3. Question: What are two questions that you thought of while reading the section? How can fracking be damaging? Is fracking harmful for the earth? 4. Analyze: What seems to be the main point or important takeaway ? Crude Oil is our primary energy source and we are running low. But scientists believe fracking can recover old oil reserves. 5. Connect: What is one way the information in the section is connected to your own life, or to something in the news ? This is connected to our lives. Because I did some research on fracking, and it can be harmful to the earth. It ruins the soil but it finds old oil reserves. There are good and bad things about fracking.
