There is no impact to tutorial sections. Lululemon Last class we were reviewing the financial statements of Lululemon. Based on their balance sheet you can see the financial strength of Lululemon. If we wanted to assess and/or measure Lulu's liquidity we can calculate their current ratio. Current Ratio is taking the Current Assets / Current Liabilities. For Lulu we would take $3,159,453 / $1,492,198. The Current Ratio at January 29, 2023 is 2.12 (Prior Year: 1.86). We would conclude that in 2023, Lulu's liquidity improved compared to the prior year as at January 29, 2023 for every $1 in current liabilities Lulu has $2.12 in current assets. Lulu has sufficient current assets to cover its current liabilities if they were all due immediately. Taking a look at Lulu's Income Statement you can see the year-over-year revenue growth $8,110,518 vs. $6,256,617. Why do you think Lulu's sales increased by $1.8 Bn? In spite of the revenue increase Lulu's profitability declined to $854,800 vs $975,322. That is surprising but if you look carefully something should stick out as to why profitability declined. If we want to see how Lulu's gross profit margin in we can take the Gross Profit / Sales ($4,492,340 / $8,110,518) = 55.4%. That is an impressive gross margin. So imagine you walk into a Lulu store and if you purchase $200 of inventory, Lulu is earning $110.80 which is significant enough to cover its other expenses (lease costs, wages, depreciation, advertising). Aritzia Once you have examined Lulu's financial statements perform the same high-level analysis on Aritzia. Calculate Aritzia's current ratios and gross profit margin. Take a look at Artzia's year over year sales growth. Have a great week and sorry for the inconvenience.
