Essay Rough Draft
The problem I am addressing would be that people with lesser updated technology would be more prone to cyber threats. This is a big problem with not only big businesses but with the regular everyday person as well. People need to protect themselves and their families from cyber threats. These attacks on someone’s network could cost them their money, personal documentation and their identity. People with better technology will have better chances of protecting themselves and their families from foreign threats. This can be possible by having a wider variety of computer protection products to choose from, having a more refined knowledge of cyber security, and having the knowledge of how the programs and hardware works. The first key point of fixing this problem would be to have better and updated technology. Whether it is hardware or software on your computer that helps protect oneself from foreign threats. The better the technology the better the protection experience. Some of the software and other things are free for everyone. As I was looking into a PC magazine article about the best free antivirus programs for anyone needing such programs for protecting ones home, some might think that because these programs are free that they are not the best. Of course, the best protection you can get is if paid for but free programs are also the best bargain if someone is looking for the right program or experimenting and seeing what’s out there. Overall, I believe that free programs are helpful in the beginning but if you want to get the most
protection than you will have to pay. Better technology comes at a higher price when you’re protecting your home from cyber threats. The second key point of fixing this problem is by having a more refined knowledge about cyber security. Having a basic knowledge of cyber security would help a regular person to better prepare themselves for a threat in the future. The proper software and knowledge could help a person gain some insight on the proper software to use and the future trends that are predicted. “The trend in 2021 is that criminal hacker groups are becoming more sophisticated in their phishing exploits with use of machine learning and more coordinated sharing on the dark web and dark web forums.” (

family from foreign threats on a cyber level. The third key point of fixing this problem is having the knowledge to know whether or not these specific programs are working properly and how to identify them working. Knowing how to identify if your programs are working can put your mind at ease knowing that the technology is doing what you want it to do. Even with this knowledge, people will have to put their faith in these systems to do their job properly against these cyber threats. This quote sums up this point. “Alerting and notifications to a customer when a potential threat has been detected is no longer sufficient, given the speed at which attacks can progress in an environment. Customers are leaning on their service providers to supply the ability to contain or disrupt a threat to limit damage to the customer’s environment and business operations.” (

knowledge. Sometimes relying on a program is all that a person can do, which makes it the best choice for the situation one is in. In conclusion, all of these key points listed would be beneficial to someone who is looking to protect themselves and their families from foreign threats on a cyber level. Having the
better technology would help in making sure that the potential for protection from these cyber attacks go unchallenged. Even though some programs might be free that doesn’t mean they are better or worse for an individual. It is whatever suits the situation. Also, having the knowledge of
cyber security as a whole would greatly enhance a persons mentality towards this subject. Looking for trends is a great way to build upon ones knowledge. Lastly, understanding how ones
programs are working properly can give a family or business confidence. Even relying on the programs that someone has acquired is a smart choice. All of these reasons come together as a great melting pot for anyone looking to further their chances of protection and not leaving it to chance. Resources:
