Introduction In the United States there have been 5.3 million children diagnosed with ADHD which comes to a percentage of 8.7% (Mayo Clinic, 2019). The Mayo clinic has enlisted a team of doctors to update and give the most correct information on their website. These are all doctors who are credible and educated in the subject matter they will be providing information on. The Mayo Clinic is a respected and renowned hospital known for its research and work with professionals who are highly skilled and possess the knowledge to diagnose and treat millions of patients each year with a variety of different disorders and disease each year. The Mayo Clinic was established in 1998 and has been providing exemplary care ever since opening its doors. They are a non-profit organization who focus on providing their patients with the best care possible. The Mayo Clinic’s webpage on Attention Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder gives a detailed overview as to what the symptoms are, how they can present in a child, explain the difference between developmental behaviors vs. ADHD, the causes, risk factors, complications, links, and ways to prevent getting ADHD. The Mayo Clinic website meets and fully conveys the criteria of accuracy, authority, and currency with its professionally written information. Accuracy The Mayo Clinic shows accuracy on their website by providing the necessary information that is written by a team of qualified physicians. The Mayo Clinic employs a team of doctors who are highly qualified in their research and who are well versed in their fields of study. With each physician’s research each doctor is providing correct and well-informed information about ADHD. Throughout the website it lists the three sub types of ADHD and how they may present. It also goes into detail about additional issues that may occur in someone who may be suffering
from ADHD (Mayo Clinic, 2019). The website is formatted in a way for the public to understand and seek the appropriate professional help if needed and their child is experiencing symptoms caused by ADHD. The Mayo Clinic prides itself on providing accurate and up to date information for all its consumers, and they do this by providing research that backs up their statements. Near the bottom of the page, you can access a link for HONcode standard where you can see and verify all the information that has been posted to the site. There is no denying that the May Clinic is the #1 ranking hospital for many reasons, but the main one being it prides itself on the accuracy and credibility of all its posts. Authority The Mayo Clinic does a wonderful job ensuring and providing you with credible and reliable physicians who have the background knowledge to back their research. This in turn establishes authority. The Clinic gives you a list of doctors who specialize in that field of medicine, and they also provide you with their contact information to make appointments. This allows you to gain more information on any disorder or disease you may be suffering with. The clinic providing you with this information shows that they stand behind their site and the information posted on it. It also shows that they have the upmost trust in the information they are providing and the trust in the physicians they employ. work. Currency Finally, with the public being able to see the date on which this research and information was published or produced allows them to see the most up to date information for which they are searching. With currency being used it is pertinent to the credibility and life of the Mayo Clinic

The website makes it easy for the public to understand, along with the terminology used. The website allows for easy access to gain knowledge about ADHD, by providing correct and accurate information the site eliminates the guessing of what may or may not be true. The Mayo Clinic website provides links to what treatment options there are, links to seek professional help, and where to go to seek these treatment options (Mayo Clinic, 2019). The Mayo Clinic website gives currency by providing current and correct information which is credited on their reference page. Currency is shown throughout the website as it is updated frequently and cites all sources that contribute to the information they are providing to the public. Conclusion The Mayo Clinic’s website provides credibility by showing its accuracy, authority, and currency. The website was created by a group of professionals who wanted to use their specialties and knowledge to create a website to inform the public of disorders and diseases you may be suffering with, including but not limited to ADHD. The facts from the website are clear and easy to understand, especially to a parent whose child may have ADHD. The resources that the public must gain access to get more information are made available to those who use the newsletter link on the webpage. Throughout the website they show their accuracy, authority, and currency by being a credible website for the public to access and can feel safe with the knowledge that what is being published on their website is backed by renowned physicians in their respective fields.
