2 Managing Virtual Teams Writing Plan The author’s claim is that the workforce is going virtual; therefore, businesses and managers will need to adjust to this by changing the way they manage people. The author wants the audience to understand how and why they must adapt to this new virtual working environment created by the COVID-19 pandemic. The author asserts that all the lessons learned during this pandemic will be the best practices for the future. The author included several key points, such as citing Time magazine, which said that COVID-19 had created the "World's largest work-from-home experiment." (Felgate, 2020,89-90) In addition, it expresses how managers with poor relationships or lack of trust in their employees have had difficulty holding their teams together and have struggled in this new remote work environment. The author incorporates statistics and research, such as the gallop study, to provide data-driven insights. He then offers practical solutions to address his concerns and follows up with actionable steps management can use to adapt and succeed in this new virtual working environment. The author then connects to the audience by acknowledging the challenges and highlighting the need for support and understanding in these transitional times. The author's claim is strong, as he provides key points and relevant evidence to support it. To support his claim, he refers to Gallops' research that provides evidence of how vital managerial leadership is in virtual teams. The author then offers six strategies managers can use to adapt their approaches. They are
