Abstract
During this lab we were asked to preform simple task laid out in the lab walkthrough. This task
in compased the basic’s of a ladder logic program which is a start stop program. This lab also
included the basic’s of creating an HMI and linking the tag list from the PLC to an HMI

For my logic I chose to utilize the set and reset functions. You can see on run one that pushing the
start button latches the run once the light is set to on. The second run uses a normally closed switch
to cut the stop light on and off as the start light cuts on and off. The third run uses and normally open
switch from the start light to cut on the conveyor. Lastly the fourth rung uses the sensor in a
normally closed switch to reset the start light to break the latch in run one which keeps the start light
off which in turn cuts power to the conveyor.

Conclusion
This lab gave a great breakdown of the introductory concepts of ladder logic and ladder logic, while
these were simple in design and concept they end up being some of the most used lines of logic
across manufacturing. No matter how complicated the program it will contain some parts of what
was done in this lab. Showing how the software works for one of the biggest PLC manufacturers is a
huge step in the right direction.
