Canada’s Federal Impact Assessment process, in common with most current approaches to
Corporate Social Responsibility, is based on the concept of the “Triple Bottom Line” – i.e. that
any project or investment must be evaluated holistically on the basis of the “three P’s” / “three
E’s”:
People / Equity
Planet / Ecology
Profit /Economy
Based on your experiences and insights gained during Lab 6, and informed by the content of
Weeks 10, 11, and 12, your Individual Self Reflection should address:
A.
How the Triple Bottom Line concept is relevant to engineering design and decision
making.
Use specific details from the case study
:
overly generic answers will earn you a
marginal grade
B.
How an understanding of the Triple Bottom Line concept might (or might not) inform or
change your own future personal patterns of resource consumption.
The Individual Self Reflection is weighted at 1% – i.e. 0.5% per items A and B above – consistent
with the rubric on the next page.
