Write a brief summary
of the text chosen for the project. The text “The Era of Happy Tech Workers Is Over.” written by Nadia Rawlinson, begins by painting a picture for the reader of the current turmoil in the tech industry. Many are seeing layoffs at their companies, which in turn is creating a more strenuous work environment for those left. The article focuses on the difficulties this demanding new workplace has put forth, and what it means for the future
of the industry. Choose one sentence from the text and incorporate it as a quote
in an original sentence. Quote:
“But while outsiders may have viewed these layoffs as impulsive, they seemed to have primed
the environment for other tech companies to follow.” (Rawlinson, 9).
Original Sentence:
Nadia Rawlinson writes, “they seemed to have primed the environment for other tech companies to follow,” furthering the notion that this is just the beginning, as well as the possibility that other companies follow in suit (9). Take the same sentence from the text and incorporate it as a paraphrase in an original sentence.
Nadia Rawlinson discusses how certain companies gravitating towards the practice of less employees,
but similar deadline expectancies, has seemed to pave the way for others to follow (9).
