Drunk Driving Drunk driving is a dangerous problem that needs to be addressed in our society, not
only to cut back on the number of deaths caused by alcohol related accidents but also to ensure
safety on public roads. Drunk driving is deliberately breaking the law, as well as a sign of
indifference for other drivers. People that tend to go out for a few drinks often drink too much and
still feel the need to drive themselves home. Thinking they are sober enough to tackle the drive
home, sadly many people accept the challenge. People go out on the road, not knowing that they are
endangering other drivers as well as themselves. Others do not trust people to drive them around so
they would rather take the risk. Peoples' prides are too high as well. Some cannot admit their drunk
because they are afraid that they would appear as a weak person. Some risk taking their own lives,
or worse, killing someone else instead of being ridiculed or made fun of. Surprisingly enough,
people even think it is funny and cool to drive while drunk. Some teenagers think of it as some form
of competition to see who can drive better while intoxicated. Some make the ridiculous statement, "I
drive better drunk than sober." This is not always the case. "
Alcohol can decrease the ability to judge
car position as all as affecting night vision and color perception" (Hall). It is never ok to drive while
drunk because you can mistakenly drive off the road as well as cause a fatal accident.
Peer pressure is another reason why people drive while drunk. Some teens submit to peer pressure
because they would rather fit in and be liked instead of seem like an outcast. Peer pressure can be a
good thing as well. Some people have had to tell their friends before that they should not drive while
intoxicated. Believe it or not, positive peer pressure can also encourage others not to make bad
decisions. Those who succumb to negative peer pressure always end up in some kind of accident or
trouble with the law. The aftermath of a car crash may be more than a loved one can bare. People
tend to feel differently about this if someone they loved were to be killed or injured by a drunk

change that. Which started me off on my journey to picking Social Anxiety as a topic to write about.
First, things first I wanted to figure out was the main thing that caused social anxiety disorder to
develop. As I was searching on the internet I came across a source that said that people with social
anxiety disorder have an imbalance of serotonin (Scutti). Serotonin is a chemical in the brain that
regulates the mood and anxiety. If there is an imbalance and you have too much you can have high
and low mood swings. This can lead to people developing social anxiety disorder because they have
high highs and extremely low lows.
After exploring a wide range of topics, we had to narrow them down to just one specific question
that we had, this was difficult for me because I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to write about. I

The first and hardest part of writing an essay is figuring out how to start. A professor may give a
topic to be written about, but in some cases that may not happen. The first step is to pick a topic.
The topic will serve as your thesis. You want to pick a topic that you are relatively knowledgeable
about so you are not completely in the dark. By picking a topic that you know even a little about,
will take away the anxiety of not knowing where to start or what to write about. If you chose to
challenge yourself and write a paper about something you are novice about, then you want to pick a
topic that is broad enough to find enough information about. For example, if you want to write a
paper about cars, do not make cars what your paper is about, because although it is a broad topic it is
also somewhat narrow. Try to broaden your topic buy changing it to, "how cars have changed our
lives." Changing your topic to a more argumentative thesis gives you a pinpoint area to write about
and leaves the door open to give you more to write about. The second step, and what I believe to be
the most important step is locating sources to support your thesis. A research essay without sources
becomes an opinion essay, and that is what you as the writer want to stay away from. Sources make
your essay more creditable. If your essay is about "how technology has benefited students and

During this course I have learned there is in fact a great deal to writing. Throughout my lifetime I
have had to write numerous amounts of essays and papers for various subjects, all requiring
different styles and techniques. Before engulfing myself into the writing process I would try and
think of whom I am writing to and what I am writing about. I always just assumed I was writing for
my audience, that being my teacher. Writing an argumentative research paper is something I had yet
to accomplish in my college career. Not only was it thought provoking but this paper challenged me
in many ways, such as, knowing who I should be directing throughout the essay to as well as the
simple steps of organizing my thoughts and ideas. Also, simply reflecting on what information needs
to be apart of the essay and what doesn't.
While writing for academic reasons I would always write for the grade, not for the purpose to write
and truly convince the reader that what I am writing about is in fact important. I have learned that
when writing an argumentative research paper you are writing for an audience of people not just to
one person. You are writing to convince the reader why they should care about the topic, and the
reader should be able to feel that passion in your writing. You are writing to broaden the thoughts

The Holocaust started in the 1933, when the Nazis and Adolf Hitler took power in Germany. The
Holocaust from the Greek words "holos" (whole) and "kaustos" (burned) cause chaos and tragedy

Nazis thought that they were the most inferior race and no other race was better than the Aryan race.

were also against Poles, Gypsies, Russians, The Disabled, Jehovah's Witnesses and Homosexuals.
During the Holocaust six million Jews were murdered and many others were treated inhuman and
killed. People who were affected by the Holocaust were discriminated, segregated and hated. This
people were mistreated and their freedom was taking away, just by having different beliefs and have
a different looks. Around this time the Nazis came up with the term "The Final Solution" This meant
to have all Jewish people segregated and put into ghettos, limiting their freedom and lives. People
were evicted from their properties and also from their business just because they were Jews, and
they were put in the "ghettos". Life in the ghettos was unbearable and overcrowding. Specially when
they have ten families living in one small apartment. They were also limited on the food that they
could buy, since Nazis did not let them buy enough food for them and their family they were only
aloud to buy small amounts, they were trying to make the Jewish starve. Jewish kids also sneak out
through small openings in the ghetto walls to smuggle food, but if they got caught they were going
to be severely punished. The housing inside ghettos were unsanitary specially when plumping broke
down, and human waste was thrown in the streets along with garbage and caused contagious

As a student in a beginning English class some elements may seem difficult at the beginning but
with practice they become long lasting skills. Writing an argumentative is not an easy task there is a
lot of elements that have to come together to create a successful essay but as many other things, it
requires constant practice and effort. At the start of this course I wasn't a very good writer myself,
and I can see the huge improvement this course made by looking at my first argumentative essay

clear vision of how to correctly format my essay. In my diagnostic essay, which was the first one I
wrote for English 1302, had five paragraphs. That is considered a standard structure of many essays
but it is more of a skeleton. Looking back at that essay I see how poor my introduction was, I did

In today's society, there are many different diets that people can follow. One of those diets is called
veganism. People who follow this diet refuse to consume meat or other animal products, including
eggs and dairy. Veganism is becoming more and more popular for a number of reasons. Some
people go vegan because they do not want to be responsible for cruelty against animals. Others
choose the vegan diet for their health or to help protect the environment. No matter what the reason,
the truth is clear: the vegan diet is simply the best choice. It is better for animals, better for us, and
better for the Earth.

In addition to their clean consciences, vegans can boast of healthy bodies. A meat–heavy diet can be
disastrous for one's health. The World Health Organization, for instance, has linked red and
processed meats to colorectal cancer (O'Connor, October 2015). Plant–based diets, on the other
hand, benefit our bodies in many ways. The advantages of avoiding meat are summarized in a recent
article from The Duke Health Medicine
News: "Vegetarian dietary patterns are associated with lower body mass, lower prevalence and
incidence of diabetes mellitus, lower prevalence of metabolic syndrome and its components
(abdominal obesity, elevated blood pressure and fasting blood sugar, high triglycerides and low
HDL cholesterol levels), lower hypertension, lower all–cause mortality, and in some cases, lower
risk of cancer" ("Vegetarian Diets", 2015, p.
4). A vegan diet offers all of the above benefits, as well as several that aren't associated with
vegetarianism
