Examine the Synthesis Lit Review (WA#2) instructions.
This assignment calls for the student writer to use
scholarly (academic) and professional (trade) sources.
Explain what you understand a scholarly source and a
professional/trade source to be. You should consider
offering an example of each type of source. Write at
least five complete sentences.
A publication that contains study findings, analysis, and
academic knowledge on a particular subject is referred to as a
scholarly source. It is often written by specialists or academics
in the field and goes through a peer-review process to ensure
quality. A peer-reviewed journal article in a specialized
publication like
"The Journal of American Medicine
(JAMA)"
which includes original research and is geared at
academic readers, is an illustration of a scholarly source. A
professional/trade source, on the other hand, is writing
targeted at practitioners and professionals in a certain
industry or subject. These resources offer pertinent news,
information, and analysis for professionals' jobs. A professional
or trade source might be "
Harvard Business Review,
" which
provides articles and case studies geared at business experts
and offers insights into techniques for leadership and
oversight.
3. Take a look at the Research Report (WA#3)
instructions. What additional research demands are
placed upon the writer for this assignment compared to
WA #2? How can you as writer best present your report
so that it is most readily accessible for your primary
audience? Write at least five complete sentences.
In comparison to the Synthesis Lit Review in noting audiences,
we have to add additional information such as who the
primary and secondary audience will be. Then you will identify
their roles in the business, explain how you chose those
variables, and then create your audience based on those
factors. To become more accessible to a primary audience it is
important to be structured and organized in the writing.
Additionally, for ease of reading writing clearly and concisely
is critical. When utilizing technical language, give explicit
definitions or explanations to avoid employing unneeded
verbiage.
4. Writing on the same topic for WA#2 and WA#3 make
the writing of the research report an easier task than it
would have been if different topics had been chosen.
Comment on how the writing on the same topic for both
these assignments can help you as you write your
research report. Answer in several complete
sentences.
The Synthesis Lit Review and Audience Report can contribute
to a more concentrated and focused approach toward a
research report when one topic is chosen. Writing becomes
more efficient by cutting out unnecessary subjects and makes
research and writing easier. If a study is interrelated, it is
much easier to spot similar themes, patterns, and holes in the
literature. Additionally, since information is still focused on a
single topic, addressing both primary and secondary
audiences is also made simpler. Without the complexity of
several, unconnected themes, you may customize your report
to match the specific demands of each audience.
