Writing An Exemplary Essay 1. Which parts of your essay do you feel most closely meet the expectations for exemplary writing as described in the essay rubric and why? I feel that the two strongest parts of my essay are my thesis and certain parts of my closing paragraphs. My focus, or thesis, most closely meet the expectations because it offers significant insight that is precise and creatively stated. It also addresses the content requirements and is fully supported throughout the essay . I like the wording I used for the thesis, and to me it's inspirational. Secondly, I think that certain parts of my closing are strong, particularly the lessons in perseverance that I learned from Seth. My grammar and mechanics have fulfilled the definition of exemplary in the essay rubric as well. 2. Which parts of your essay could use improvement, and why? While there are many parts of my essay that could use improvement, I am only going to focus on a couple. In paragraph four it feels as though I am rambling a bit about the details of the Domino Project story. I do think that how the project played out is important, I just ...show more content... Specifically, when moving from paragraph five to paragraph six, besides using the word "another" twice in a row, it seems forced, like I am jumping into the next idea. How can I clearly transition without sounding automated? Also, the last sentence in paragraph five sounds like I just threw it in there. Should I take it out completely or rewrite it? I don't like how the last two sentences of my essay flow, although I really like the wording I used. How can I mix or add to these ideas to create more flow for the ending? Another thing I can improve upon is my style or voice. Sometimes I can sound a little sterile. How can I show more easygoing flow while retaining the professional feel of the essay? The audience I chose is future employers so I want to sound intelligent but not Get more content on StudyHub.Vip
The Respiratory System Essay The respiratory system is the process responsible for the transportation and exchange of gases into and out of the human body. As we breath in, oxygen in the air containing oxygen is drawn into the lungs through a series of air pipes known as the airway and into the lungs. As air is drawn into the lungs and waste gas excreted, it passes through the airway, first through the mouth or nose and through the pharynx, larynx and windpipe – also known as the trachea. At this point it then enters the lungs through the bronchi before finally reaching the air sacs known as alveoli. Within the lungs, through a process known as diffusion, the oxygen is transferred to the blood stream through the alveoli (air ducts) where it is then transported inside ...show more content... Within the alveoli, the oxygen is transferred to the blood whilst simultaneously collecting waste carbon dioxide for excretion as we breath out. This transference is known as diffusion and is linked to the cardiovascular system. Diffusion is an automated process by where the levels of oxygen, water and carbon dioxide pass over a 'semi–permeable membrane' between the walls of the cells and blood vessels to create a level environment. This membrane only allows these three elements to pass whilst retaining other elements such as blood cells, hence semi–permeable. The high concentration on one side of the cells transfers through this membrane until the level is equal on both sides. The human body comprises of two respiratory sponges called lungs. The left lung is slightly smaller than the right as it makes room for placement of the heart . Due to this slightly smaller size, it only contains two lobes whereas the right lung has 3 lobes. Both lungs are host to the network of air sacs or alveoli which transport the air from the outside environment to the external and internal respiration processes. As we breathe in, the muscles in the chest wall force the thoracic area, ribs and connective muscles to contract and expand the chest. The diaphragm is contracted and moves down as the area inside the chest increases as air enters the lungs. The lungs are forced open by this expansion and the pressure inside the lungs becomes enough that it pulls Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

Essay on Bureaucracy Bureaucracy The word "bureaucracy" has a negative connotation to many people. The fact is that our current system of government would not be able to survive without bureaucracies. The bureaucracy has become the "fourth branch" of the government, it has quasi–legislative and judicial powers and in it's own field its authority is rarely challenged. The presence of these large, inefficient structures is necessary if the American people want to continue receiving the benefits that they expect. Bureaucracies are technically encompassed under the executive branch of government . The executive branch, however, does not have control over a lot of the things that the agencies do. Congress tries to control agencies by influencing the ...show more content... The president appoints people to head agencies; these people are loyal and have the same ideology as the president. The president can also issue executive orders or simply his word is enough to put an agency into action. The OMB is also under the president so he too can control the amount of money that agencies receive. The president can also reorganize an agency if he chooses. This spread of power is the same way that the founders intended, with the system of checks and balances. The bureaucracy is not under direct control of any branch and it has regulatory and judicial powers that are quasi or semi, these things combined make it safe to assume that the federal bureaucracy is indeed a "fourth branch." The American people have come to expect that the government should take care of them. They expect the government to provide social security, regulation of food and medicines, protect consumers, and a whole bunch of other concerns and interests. The government can not provide these things without bureaucracies. People tend to consider bureaucracies as huge overgrown parts of the government, but this is rarely the case with most bureaucracies short on necessary training, funding, supplies and equipment – to carry out the huge task of serving the American people. The government is providing the most it can for Americans with the least amount of spending. The people govern in a democratic government, and if the Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

Structure and Agency Essay Structure and agency are two theoretical terms used to explain the capacity at which we as people are able to be individuals, and to what extent those influences limit our individuality. Structure refers to the ways in which a society is organized. Agency refers to the behaviors and actions of the individuals within the social structure. Agency is limited by the structure due to cultural barriers and inequalities within the structure. In this essay, I will present an overview of why critical theorists are concerned with those inequalities, and I will further identify the problems within the system contributing to the unequal access to the public sphere, relating specifically to class and gender inequalities. Society is highly ...show more content... As Habermas puts it "the relationship of the individual to the state has increasingly become one of client or consumer services, rather than citizen" (Roberts & Crossley, 5). Due to the limited agency (citizens' roles) within this sphere, we can conclude that the ongoing competition and negotiation for a role in the public sphere ends with strictly dominant views. In such a monarchy, ordinary citizens such as lower classes and women have limited input when debating politics among other things. The ideal of a place where all opinions are counted, so to speak, fails to provide a sense of individual identity. This is due to the fact that it is pre–destined by the state itself and then turned back to the people– telling them what they will think about particular issues; shown especially through the controlling lens of the media. According to Marx, those who have power over society exert their control as a result of economic power and therefore determine the dominant ideologies within the superstructure model. Being the greater economical and cultural barrier, the structure provides the social world with norms, rules and beliefs pertaining to age, gender, class and one's cultural identity. Within that structure it becomes apparent that inequalities restrict your agency in terms of nationality, geographical location, class etc. In agreement with Marx, the dominant views are generally the views of the superior class; the elite. My Family Structure I grew up in a nuclear family. There are four people in my family, consists of my father, mother, my sister and me. My father is 62 years old. He's working as a insurance agent. My mother is 10 years younger than my father. She used to work as a store manager before she gave birth to me. She quitted her job in order to take care of me and my sister because she believes that the mother daughter bond can grow stronger day by day by spending time with us. My sisters and I are four years apart. She is currently studying in Tsun Jin Independent School. Even though we fought a lot growing, got mad at each other, but she is still my one and only sister and that's all that matters. I think is normal for siblings to fight despite the age difference ...show more content... I am also aware of my role as a student, studying and doing the best I can to score in my exams so that in the future I may provide a higher living standard to my family . For my sister, apart from also being a student like myself, she basically carries the role of the helper at home. Unlike myself, she spends a lot of time at home with mom while I'm out doing assignments and juggling college life. By spending a lot of time at home, she spends more time with my mom, helping her with house chores. With all these roles, comes rules as well, my parents have always given my sister and I curfews. It is understandable because of all the crime rates shooting sky high these days, our parents just wants us to be safe. Another important rule set by my parents is that all family members must have dinner together. This is so that all of us can have our bonding time as a family. Communication is the knot that ties it all and it is no doubt the most important thing needed in any kind of relationship. For my family, the communication methods that we practice are pretty much very decent. My parents, after years and years of being together, they can understand each other very well. They can understand each other without even saying a word, just a face expression would do. My parents communicate differently as compared to when they communicate with my sister and myself. This is because of the hieratical Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

My Growth As A Writer The Memo will directly address my growth as a writer throughout my time in EH 101–13. It will also highlight my current strengths and weaknesses in my own personal writing style. My Development Rhetorical Analysis: This being the first paper I wrote for you, it turned out to be utter garbage. This was my worst essay because I was overconfident in my own writing ability and didn't think I had much room to improve on. At the time I felt like it was a top notch essay, but I have recently gone back and reread it only to notice it as choppy and stale to read. Then the paper was riddled with comma splices, even after you did a lesson going over how to fix them. It wasn't out of spite that I kept repeating these mistakes, but instead it was just ignorance on the matter. It was my goal coming out of that essay to fix those errors and while not perfect, I feel I have improved in my awareness of the problem. This paper taught me a great deal on how to think more critically about situations. This new mindset directly came into play in the second essay. I learned my greatest lesson from this paper. I have so much room for improvement. Now that I can see more of my errors I can continue to improve and move forwards with my writing abilities. Literary Analysis: The Literary Analysis was by far my best essay and the one I most enjoyed writing. The new critical thinking skills I learned in the first essay made writing this paper much easier. I also found the topics of the Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

Essay On Business Structure When brainstorming to start a business, it is essential to research the most efficient way to start a company and all the liabilities that can happen. Business can become successful with the right person in place and a unique idea. When making a company, it is crucial to determine the structure, which organization to start with and the liability that is involved. When taking a closer look at five different company structures Sole Proprietorship, General Partnership, Limited Partnership, S/C Corporation, and Limited Liability. Which have not honored the contract and are at risk for legal actions. The various liabilities between each owner will be discussed. Which will analyze ways to limit liability and display my future business ...show more content... Now, A partnership is formed between two individuals and the agreement should be in a contract form or writing. The next two types that are discussed are general partnership and limited partnership. Silverbrand (2008) stated Partnerships are the primary form of business which larger companies begin (p.167). Partnerships are simple to start, no required registration only within certain states, and can end quite rapidly. A general partnership is where each partner is equal to liability or any litigation consequences. In a limited partnership, the liability is limited equal to the amount the limited partners at first invested. In fact, sometimes limited partners do not make business decisions but, own stock within the company. Basically, an LLC, with its hybrid nature, "provides owners...with the limited liability protection of a corporation, but without the potential for double taxation" (Jordan & Clark, 1197). The income created from a general partnership of a business is taxed as income earned by the person working for a different company. When starting a partnership it is best to discuss the amount of liability that each partner is responsible for. Which, will help when looking at the type of litigation described. The most recognized companies are Corporations and LLC's. According to Sonderquist (2000) Corporations are similar to limited partnerships Get more content on StudyHub.Vip
BUILDING A HOUSE Essay Building A House The process of building a house is a very complex and difficult task. In the following paragraphs, I will be explaining the many different steps that are required to build a house. The first thing in building a house is selecting a lot and lot preparation. The land has to be cleared of trees and brush and graded to ensure a level building area. This process is usually called excavating and grading . This is usually a very fast process but can be costly depending on the job. Also the land has to perk which means the land is not too wet and is safe for a structure and allows a septic tank to be installed that will function properly. The next step is to have the land surveyed. When the land ...show more content... When the framing crew is finished, the framing has to be inspected and passed before the next process can begin. The next process is for the electricians and plumbers to begin. The electricians will completely wire the house while the plumbers will only put in the first stage of pipes. The reason for not completely plumbing is because the showers, sinks, and toilets are the very last items to be installed. After the wiring and preliminary plumbing are complete, insulation and installing the windows on the house are done. Using a good insulation and good windows will help reduce the heating and cooling costs of the homeowner. This is a step in building a house that you should spare no expense. The insulation and windows will pay for themselves in the long run. Next, the builder will be hanging sheetrock. The sheetrock is the base interior wall covering. After the sheetrock is hung, the painting or wallcovering can be done. Once painting is completed, the carpet installation or other floor coverings can be installed. This is self–explanatory. Inside trim will also be done during this phase. This includes various molding and window casings and other items to be done to the specifications of the homeowner. Then builders will move to the outside of the house. The boxing and siding crews will start on the exterior of the house. Here you have to choose whether you want vinyl siding or one of the many of the other kinds of siding on the market today. There Get more content on StudyHub.Vip
