Hero Definition Essay
The definition of hero in merriam dictionary is " a person who is admired for great or brave acts or
fine qualities." To me, a hero is someone who you look up to, someone who you can model yourself
after.A hero is someone who helps people, saves people lives, and risks their lives for someone else's
life.Someone who sets an example for you and someone with a good set of morals and values,
however for some other people this is not the definition for a hero and they have a complete
opposite recognition of what they believe is a hero.I know that for a lot of people the Hitler and
Saddam Hussein is a hero. They like them whether they know how they do terrible things and they
killed a hundred of thousand innocent people, just because they are not

Definition Essay: Defining A Hero
If you look up the definition of hero what comes up is, "a person, typically a man, who is admired or
idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.", and then after that is the
example, "a war hero", but that is highly debatable. Personally, I don't think there is an actual
definition of hero because everyone has a different opinion on what they think a hero is. For
example, I consider a hero is someone who is willing to risk their life for you, care about you, and
puts you before them, but when asking a friend of mine what the definition of a hero is for them
they simply said someone who saves lives. I personally think that's more of a general definition that
describes people that are police officers, nurses, doctors,

My parents work hard to give us the best they can which I truly appreciate. They're both two
Mexican immigrants who have horrible jobs because they don't have the same opportunities as
others and get discriminated against on a daily basis. I'm proud of them both even more now since
my mom is finally getting her residency after 19 years of waiting then soon she's going to become a
citizen after that my dad is going to apply for residency. He could've have applied first, but he
wanted her to because he wanted her to land a better job. I consider them my heroes because they
look after us and care about us. They keep a roof over our heads and food on the table, even if it's
not much. They work hard to try to give us a better life because they want us to be successful in life,
they want us to be able to experience everything they didn't like going to college and having a good
job that actually pays well. My three brothers are my heroes as well. Sure they act like I annoy them,
but I know they love me like I love them. They are very protective of me and they teach me how to
stand up for myself. My oldest brother Edgar has babied me and taken care of me since I was born.
Whatever my parents couldn't afford to give me, he worked hard to help them out. He has been the
one who has dropped me off at the bus stop when it was too cold, dressed me when I was too young
to dress myself and he was the one who did my hair despite having no experience before

Characteristics of a Hero Essay
Characteristics of a Hero
"A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself" (Campbell 1).
When we think of heroes most of us think of movie stars or professional athletes, but it's not always
about your popularity or talent it can also be about how you help society. What I think make a great
hero is someone who is able to overcome his or her obstacles in life, is highly motivated, and has
plenty of bravery.
Overcoming obstacles may be one of the hardest parts of being a hero. I think it's the hardest
because a lot of people are blocked from doing something and just quit. A great example of this trait
is Jackie Robinson. He was discriminated against because he was African–American. Even
though

In order to be a successful hero you must be a highly motivated person. Without motivation you
would not be very successful because you would have no ambition to try and make a difference in
the world. I think Rodney Dangerfield is a great example of this because he started he career at just
15 and he died while he was in the middle of a movie. Also when his wife tried to make him quit he
just blew their many years of happiness and divorced her. In one of his quotes he stated, "At twenty
a man is full of fight and hope. He wants to reform the world. When he's seventy he still wants to
reform the world" (Dangerfield 3).
Bravery is a great trait for a hero to posses. I think bravery is a key quality because you don't always
know what lies ahead of you and you have to be brave to continue. A good example of this is
Charles Lindburgh. He was the first person to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. I believe that took a
great amount of bravery because no one had ever made it across, so he didn't know what lie ahead of
him. One of his many good quotes he said, "The most effective way to do it, is to just do it",
(Lindburgh 1).
So as you may see overcoming obstacles, being motivated and being outstandingly brave is key to
becoming a great hero.Like overcoming obstacles was very hard for

Defining A Hero
Heroes only come around every once and awhile, their demeanor is unprecedented to the common
people. Heroes do remarkable things that many people are unwilling and in some cases unable to do
as well. The common stereotype of a hero is someone who has these extraordinary super powers, but
anyone willing to act like a hero may become one. Among normal people, being a hero could be
difficult to accomplish, but many people have the mindset just not the initiative to act. However,
becoming a hero is difficult because you have to have a specific set of characteristics. Three
characteristics that heroes have are being selfless, brave, and moral. The main concern of a hero is to
help the lives of people in need, being selfless individuals. Heroes look to brighten up someone
else's day prior to looking out for themselves, which differentiates them from normal people.
Selflessness can lead to an individual to the point of sacrificing themselves for ones that need help,
which most times is what heroes do . Society today seems more self orientated and not as caring
about other individuals. A person would commit themselves to doing heroic acts just for the sake of
helping someone else. Heroes also can see where people are coming from in terms of their situations

Being able to do what needs to be done in a high risk event requires bravery. Heroes can mask the
fear of situation they are imposed in and do what is needed to be done for other people. Optimism in
certain situations allow for people to really become heroes and help people caught in rough
situations. Many people can be able to be selfless individuals, but it would take a real hero to
overcome their dilemmas. During the time heroes have to have this bravery, they must also believe
in their ability to persist through any situation despite the

through all of the challenges that has been through throughout his life. My grandpa was born on

What is a Hero? Essay
What is a Hero? There are many types of heroes (such as the ones in comic books, myths, movies,
or even just everyday life heroes) but all of them have perseverance when they're going through a
conflict. Heroes are role models and they're people that we look up too. They all have unique and
special qualities that make one another different from each other. For example policemen battle
crime everyday and when they're overcoming a conflict they have determination, courage and other
traits that people admire them for and that make them as a hero
. Typically a hero is admired for their
achievement/actions and qualities. There once was a speech made, from a man who was admired
and looked up too by many people. His name was Martin Luther

Many of us thought he was a very inspiring and wonderful man because he had achieved his goal by
showing everyone that all of us are equal. If it weren't for him, there probably wouldn't be different
races here in the world getting along together today. Another idea of a hero was when Gandhi had
stood up for his country; India. "Gandhi led nationwide campaigns to ease poverty, expand women's
rights, and build religious and ethnic amity" plus he had "spent a number of years in jail in both
South Africa and India". In other words Gandhi never gave up showing everyone how India should
be independent. Gandhi had stood out his way by leading marches to declare independence. Gandhi
had been admired for his bravery (when he was thrown in jail a few times), his confidence (he never
showed any sign of weakness) and perseverance (he had never gave up). Heroes are not always
people who lead marches or do things for their country. For example policemen, firefighters, nurses,
lifeguards etc. are heroes everyday because they take the time to save lives. When they're going
through a challenge or trying to overcome a conflict they always have courage. These people risk
their own life to save someone else's. To be more specific Dr. Ginger Holt from Dallas had saved a
little boy's leg. She was confident and determined to finding out what went wrong in the boy's leg
and went through many procedures looking at the tests.

Definition Essay: What Is A Hero
What is a hero? Well everybody has a different definition but one key trait all heros have is bravery.
On hero that carries this trait is a president. Presidents not only stand up in front of a lot of people
during speeches but also have control over the united states of america. Another hero is a soldier,
they risk their lives every day to protect our country. Heros don't only need to be in real life they can
also be in books, like dallas winston from the outsiders. Dally is a unique guy. He doesn't like to go
by the rules. When ponyboy and johnny were on the run he helped them out and gave them some
cash and a gun . He also didn't have any manners when he was talking to cherry and her friend. Or

What is the Definition of a Hero?
When one thinks of heroes, names such as Ghandi, Martin Luther King, and Mother Theresa often
come to mind. These people had done a lot of favors, courage, helps, and more of things for the
people who needed them. The true definition of hero is a man of distinguished valor. Bravery,
courage
, intrepidity, boldness, daring, and prowess in war are a hero
's characteristics. However a
hero is understood to be different to everyone. Upon closer examination, many different qualities
than these become apparent. The definition of heroism changes with the context and time. Heroes of
the past are not necessarily heroes of present time and vise versa. A person can be a hero for saving
the life of one or of millions.

Some individuals living in poverty with a determination to succeed work hard all of their lives to
become what everybody doubted they could. Despite of their financial problems, drug and crime
surroundings, or difficulties in the language skills, their desire to triumph fuels their persistence.
Those who make it to success are the few living examples of the purest form of hero anyone can be.
They are not only their own heroes but also the heroes of the poor children who dream of becoming
like them someday.
Anyone who influences anyone else by saving or helping save his or her lives can be a hero. Dr.
Martin Luther King Jr. changed the lives of millions of people by bringing justice to minorities.
Mahatma Gandhi, one of the greatest heroes, led a nonviolent revolution to free his country. Even a
parent can be a hero to his or her child by leading them in the right direction. All teachers are heroes
when they make it their job to teach a child anything that will help them in life. You don't have to go
to great lengths by risking your life to make a difference in someone else's life.
There is no discretion to become a hero. The perfect hero is one who will defy the odds. One who
will do the morally correct thing no matter how hard it is. A true hero won't let you down. A hero
will give you opportunity to worship him without regret. The hero presents himself when given the
chance, yet

Defining Heroism
Heroes, despite their extraneous characteristics, have very similar values to the people that follow
them. This point of view can best be explained using three key points of focus. These points are as
follows: The similarity of a higher guidance in times of need, the similarity of the code of honor that
they live by, and the fact that no matter who the hero is, he or she is under pressure to be a
successful role model
.
The similarity of higher guidance in times of need is the easiest and most direct of all the three
factors. Most heroes, but not all, live their lives in allegiance to God or another worshiped figure.
Take the story of Beowulf for example. Beowulf was without fear when he faced the monster known
as Grendel. This

I believe the correct view on the subject is that no matter who you are, you are still God's love and
servant
. This unites every class, as long as they chose to believe it.
Another communal characteristic of heroes and those who follow them is the fact that everyone
lives by a code of honor. Heroes live by a higher code of honor than those who follow them. For
heroes, their actions must either all be in accordance with the rules set by their master, or greatly
excel the expectations that are held for others. Going out of their way at every possible instance is
considered mandatory. The main point of all of this is not that they actually do all these things, but
that they proudly enjoy performing the tasks given to them. Everyday people are the same, just less
intense. Everyone has a code of honor. Some have a higher level than others. One person may live
by a code of honor consisting of no regulations at all. Another could live by the regulations that they
can't go against the bible, can't break the law, and occasionally have to try to be nice to people. In
another case, a person could see the minimum code of conduct in their life being to live their life in
the footsteps of God, obey all laws, and do every possible act of humanity and good will that they
can. The point is that no matter who the subject is, be it hero or zero, everyone has a code of conduct
that they chose to live by

A hero. The word alone brings images of the powerful and strong to your mind. My definition of a
hero is more what some people would call every day heroes. Doctors and nurses that spend day in
and day out working for others and have dedicated their very lives to saving others are heroes to me.
I find that people who conquer some feat that means a great deal to them should be considered as
heroes as well. I also believe that a hero is someone who feels like they are up against the
impossible and are still able to overcome make a hero. Most people would think of my third
definition of a hero as their main choice. With this definition I find myself looking to movies like
the ones by Marvel. I believe that these people certainly deserve the title

Descriptive Essay About A Hero
When talking about a hero, some people might think of a veteran, a fire fighter, or even superman.
The definition of the word "hero" varies between different people; however, my definition of a hero
is someone who is selfless, brave, and strong. Someone who doesn't runaway when things get hard,
who gives their all just for the wellbeing of others regardless of the strain it puts on themselves.
When thinking of the word "hero" the only person who comes to my mind is my cousin Cassy.
Cassy fits my own personal description of a hero; she is selfless, brave, and strong. She doesn't run
away when things get tough and most importantly, she looks out for others no matter what the
situation is. What is a hero to you? On September 24th of 2017, my parents, along with my sister
and I, walked into my grandma's house around three o'clock in the afternoon. My aunt Patty had told
us she had very important news for us to hear that evening. As we sat down in the living room of my
grandma's small condo, everybody looked at one another awkwardly waiting for someone to speak
first. My mom started the conversation by asking how long my aunt was going to be in town. My
aunt slightly teared up as she tried to spit out her response. She began to tell us that she was actually
moving back home to Fargo from the farm place her and her boyfriend lived at near Devils Lake.
My aunt started to stutter after a while and then finally blurted out the sentence that nobody ever
wants to hear come from a loved

Hero Essay
English 3
There are many ways to define or describe a hero. I would describe a hero in my own words as a
person with an impressive strength of characteristics to be defined as a hero. Heroes are admired for
their bravery and the great courage that they show others such as an everyday hero
. An everyday
hero can be someone such as your mother, father, or even a fireman, etc. who has a eager
compassion to serve others.
A Hero's job isn't to always put their life on a line to help protect others such as a fireman who does
so for others whose in dangerous situation. But when you are willing to sacrifice and do almost
whatever it takes to become someone's hero by being brave and eager. Even though you may not

What it takes to be a hero Essay
The media is quick to attach the word "hero" to anyone that does a good deed. I disagree with this
because, good deeds don't necessarily make you a hero, they make you a good person. Being heroic
should come naturally. Heroes are born, not made. A hero must be courageous, kind–hearted and
humble. I understand that many people have their own view on what a hero is. People label heroes
by the things they do. Some even label people heroes just because they are famous. There is a big
difference between a role model and a hero. It was expressed best in the article, What Makes A
Hero? The Impact of Integrity on Admiration and Interpersonal Judgment, "Doing the right thing is
a basis for acts of heroism and laudable accomplishment but often

I personally think someone that puts others before themselves and puts themselves at risk to better
the life or situation of another is a hero. I also notice that our younger generation may be making
heroes out of the wrong types of people. When I think of a hero, the first thing that pops in my head
is the U.S. military
. They constantly put their lives, families, and personal feelings on the
backburner for their mission. They risk their lives protecting not just a few people, but all of
America. Even though there are a lot of people who disagree with what they do, they continue to
protect our freedoms. I know there are a lot of people who won't agree with me but because they
believe what the military does is wrong no matter the reason. There are other people that I consider
heroes that are on a much smaller scale also. These heroes are firemen/women, policemen/women,
some teachers and social workers. Firemen will run into a burning house one more time just to save
someone's cat because it will make them happy. They put themselves in danger for the sake of
others. Police officers protect their cities even though they might not want to. They will save a
murderer if he/she is in danger just as they would save anyone else. Police officers have to earn
respect just like the military because people don't agree with what their orders are. Social workers
may not put their lives on the line but they wont hesitate to save children from abusive

To start, a hero inspires others to do deeds that define them as a heroic person. For instance, Ana
fought a terrible fight against cancer but continued to inspire her family to live their lives to the
fullest. In a piece by Ana's son, Adam, he wrote, "I know she is afraid, she fights this lethal disease
every moment of everyday, and does it with a smile," (An Everyday Hero). By Ana keeping a
glowing slime on her face, it made the others around her know that although she is terrified, she is
content with her condition and knows she can not change it. Ana inspired everyone around her until
the day she passed. Moreover, Moco, a dog, that had a defect in his hind–leg that caused that led to

Hero Essay : What Makes A True Hero Today?
A hero is not defined by what he does, but how he acts after the fact. While many people act like
heroes every day, that isn't what defines a true hero. Staying humble and kind is how you define a
true hero. Not someone that wants recognition or something special for doing something to be called
a hero. We need heroes in today's world, it's unfortunate however, we need heroes because of all the
terrorist attacks, natural disasters and just to simply help an old woman across the street with
grocery bags. There are multiple characteristics, that make them a true hero
. This is how you define
a true hero in today's world.
Bravery is important today for people who are faced with challenges that can be intimidating or
scary, but face these challenges everyday head on. Just look at some people we call heroes today.
They never shied away from the situations that made them heroes, they might have been scared, but
they had bravery. Bravery is, if not one of the most important characteristics, this entirely defines a
hero in one word. The most unbelievable part of many heroes today is that many are the normal
people wanting to make a difference in where they live or possibly the world. In some situations,
bravery is not even necessary, but many heroes still have to have it. Someone with bravery will be
risky too, or bend the known rules to make things right for a group or a majority of people. In the
news video, One Girl Changing the World, an everyday person named Malala displays

"What is a hero?" The word hero can mean whatever a person wants it to mean. Many people define
a role model or person they think is a hero out of their occupations. However, a person does not
become a hero because of their occupation or what they do that we envy. A hero is a person who
takes a bold step or achievement that requires courage, bravery and a kind heart to do it, and the act
is normally done for others. Heroes are not heroes out of their occupations like a doctor. For
example, a doctor's work is to save lives, so when they do this, it is what we expect of them. If a
doctor saves a drowning child from a swimming pool, he becomes a hero
. The doctor demonstrates
an act of bravery and courage for the child. So a hero can be any person with or without an
occupation, who performs a bold act for others. A hero just has to be someone to sacrifice something
for others. Heroes can come from anywhere. Heroes do not have to do action acts such as saving a
person. Heroes can even be from acts of kindness. Some

A hero goes through many difficulties in a journey that poses so many dangers of failure. Many
people in such situations would give up and turn back. However, heroes persist on despite
challenges and difficulties. Heroes are ordinary people in difficult situations that require courage
and even raise fear in them. However, they manage to overcome their fear in order to persist on until
they accomplish their mission. The difference between those who become heroes and those who do

?
What truly defines a hero in every sense of the word? I believe acts of perseverance and emotional
strength suit this word more accurately. Or, those who save the human race by teaching and
encouraging us to save ourselves.
Heroes that were defined by their perseverance could be found during WWI. In July of 1918 three
nurses were aiding the wounded when an artillery strike ensued on the front lines. Bullets flew and

I believe that a hero can be anyone. Hero means something different to everyone. People save lives

them alive. The hero is not always the government entity who swoops in and saves the women and
children from abuse. Sometimes it is their own emotional strength that saves them and makes them
heroes. The hero is not always Superman who saves the human race from extinction once again.
Sometimes the hero is someone who believes in you and encourages you to be strong and persevere.
Even you can be a
