Juan Penuela COP 1030 Resistor Homework 1. What is the resistance of resistors with the following color bands? o Brown Black Red => 1000 Ω o Brown Blue Orange => 16000 Ω o Red Violet Orange => 27000 Ω o Orange Blue Black => 36 Ω o Blue Gray Green => 6.8 M Ω o Yellow Green Brown => 450 Ω 2. What is the current across each of the above resistors if the voltage is 3.3v? o 3.3V / 1000 Ω = 0.0033 Amps o 3.3V /16000 Ω = 0.00020625 Amps o 3.3V /27000 Ω = 0.00012222 Amps o 3.3V /36 Ω = 0.09166667 Amps o 3.3V /6.8 M Ω = 0.00000049 Amps o 3.3V /450 Ω = 0.0073333 Amps 3. The voltage is 5V across the circuit. Determine the resistance of the resistor based upon the color of the bands. Based upon the voltage required by the LED, compute the current. Please refer to the PowerPoint presentation to determine how much voltage is required by the LED. The LED is blue, and the resistor's bands are green, violet, and black. o Blue LED = 3.7 V o Green – Violet – Black Resistor = 57 Ω o I = V/R => 5 V/ 57 Ω = 0.08772 Amps 4. If the voltage across the circuit is 3.3V, what would happen? o If the voltage is lower and the same resistance is applied, the LED is less likely to turn on, or it will turn on with less intensity. 5. The voltage is 3.3V across the circuit. Determine the resistance of the resistor based upon the color of the bands. Based upon the voltage required by the LED, compute the current. Please refer to the PowerPoint presentation to determine how much voltage is required by the LED. The LED is an infrared LED and the resistor's bands are blue, gray, and brown. o Infrared LED = 1.6V o Blue – Gray – Brown Resistor = 680 Ω o I = V/R = 3.3V/680 Ω = 0.00485294 Amps
