ELEC 130 Lab – Electrical Test Equipment
Project:
Electrical Test Equipment
Objectives:
a)
Identify the main settings & uses for a digital multimeter
b)
Demonstrate proper testing of a circuit using a meter’s probes and clamp
Materials:
Digital multimeter
Clamp-on ammeter
Series circuit w/ load
Project board
Reference:
Class lecture notes, textbook, National Electric Code
Procedure
:
1.
In the space below, draw each symbol available on your multimeter’s dial, and define what test each symbol represents.
2.
Using a project board, and under the direction of your instructor, construct a series circuit, including at least one load. DO NOT ENERGIZE YOUR CIRCUIT
.
3.
Use the multimer’s probes to measure the following on your circuit:
Line-to-Neutral Continuity
26.3
Neutral-to-Ground Continuity
0
Line-to-Ground Continuity
0
Line-to-Neutral Resistance
19.8
Resistance of the load
20.3
4.
With your instructor’s approval, energize your circuit.
