1 Pre-Lab-Experiment DC 7 Ahona Chowdhury 833005883 SECTION NO- 505 Experiment: Parallel DC Circuits
2 PURPOSE- Measure the currents and voltage of a parallel dc network and verify Kirchhoff's current law. Test the application of the current divider rule. MATERIALS NEEDED- 1.2-kf/, 4.7-kfl, 10-kfl, 1-Ma (1/4-W) 2-2.2-kfl (1/4-W) 1—DMM 1—dc power supply PROCEDURE- Part 1: Basic Measurements Construct the network and insert the measured value of each resistor. Using the measured values, calculate the total resistance of the network and insert in Table. Apply 12 V to all point and calculate the currents (in mA) through R1 and R2 using measured resistor values and Ohm's law and insert in Table. In addition, determine the source current using Kirchhoff's current law. Measure the currents 11,12, and I, using the DMM in the ammeter mode and determine the total resistance of the network RT using Ohm's law and the measured value of I, and record. Part 2: Equal Parallel Resistors Construct the network. Insert the measured value of each resistor in the space provided and calculate the total resistance assuming exactly equal resistor values. Connect the ohmmeter section of the DMM to points 1-2 and record the reading. Using the measured resistance levels of R1 and R2, calculate the total resistance and record in Table Part 3: Current Division Insert the measured value of each resistor. Using the measured resistor values, calculate the current is and record in Table. CONCLUSION- Note down all the values collected record them in a table and match it to understand how the parallel resistance circuit functions. Verify the values and do the calculations as required.
