Look at the image of the chassis on page 2, on the left side there are a few different power sources: +V, -5V, -V, +5V, GND . Which sources do you use to power and ground an IC (integrated circuit)? Sources used to power and ground an IC are: +5V provides +ve voltage that provides power to the IC. The GND acts as a reference point for the circuit and completes the electrical circuit by providing the return path for current. 2.2 What are bus strips ? Bus strips are two strips connected at the top, middle and bottom of breadboard in the IDL 800 chassis. They have red and blue lines and serve as power(+5V) and ground connections for the circuits built on the breadboard. 2.3 Why are bus strips useful? They are useful because they provide a convenient way to distribute power and ground to the circuit on the breadboard. They also allow multiple components to be powered or grounded from a single strip. 2.4 Is hole A1 connected to hole B1 ? Yes A1and B1 are connected as they are in the same column and in IDL 800 breadboard holes in the same column are connected.
2.5 Is hole A3 connected to hole A5 ? Yes A3 and A5 are connected as they are in the same row and in IDL 800 breadboard holes in the same row are connected. 2.6 Is hole E5 connected to hole G5 ? No E5 and G5 are not connected since they are in different columns. 2.7 Is hole H1 connected to hole J1 ? Yes H1 is connected to J1 as they are in the same column. 2.8 In Section II. IDL Control Panels lists all the inputs and outputs of the system. Which ONE of the following input controls is the MOST appropriate for Boolean logic (true/false or 0/1 logic): The 3-Way Switch Panel, the Pulse Switch Panel, or the 8-bit Data Switch Panel?
