Third Body Paragraphs
I have learned a lot of things throughout this unit. When I first started this unit I didn't know how to
write a summary, analysis or a citation properly. That scared me because I am going into college
next year and I have to know these things. Now I know how to write a summary without killing it to
death. I know how to write analysis even though I make them a little bit too long at times. I also
now know how to cite a source properly. When it comes to writing about my topic (Private vs Public
Universities) I believe I have all the sources I need to write a solid research paper
. If I was going to
write a solid research paper I would have my introduction stating what my body paragraphs are
going to be about and have my thesis. I would need to have little more research for a third body
paragraph.

One thing that this unit didn't change my mind about is how much I hate citations and how annoying
they are to do. The only thing I think I could have truly done better is broaden my research a little
bit more. I could have researched more about where they're mostly located, the ratios, the statics,
and the activities. The other thing I could have done is that I could have done community college vs
Public college vs Private college. This would have let me expand a lot more and get more valuable
facts about all colleges instead of just two. If I would have done that then I could have wrote a
research papers with three body paragraph about each different type of college. I feel as in it would
have been more straightforward but I'm very biased when it comes to private or public colleges
verus community because I don't believe in community college. Another thing I learned throughout
this whole unit and I will always remember this... Roland and bibme are the worst resources to go to
when learning how to do an annotated bibliography. Thank you for taking the time to teach us the
basics and getting us college ready. This truly helped me become ready for next year in writing

Self Care Essay example
Just to think about self care can be a task in itself. I never really thought it about it, to be honest, but
it is an essential part of living. We get so busy and caught up living in our everyday lives that we
forget about the most important part, ourselves. I have two young kids ages 3 and 5, so my focus is
always to take care of them and make sure their needs are met, forgetting about myself along the
way. I think this assignment will help me to appreciate and not take for granted the things that I
know I need to do for myself and to show love to the most important person, me.
Stress management and self–soothing techniques are critical for surviving modern work–no matter
the focus of the work. Psychotherapists tend to disregard their

In class we discussed "saying no" being apart of our plans and I know that this is a must for me. At
times I find myself running around like a chicken with its head cutoff. If only I had the courage to
tell people no when I really need to the most. This will be tough for me but I know that it will help
me have more time to do the things I love.
Although there are several things on my list that I am cringing over I will give it my all. What better
way to be a good therapist? Starting the process of self–care now will hopefully alleviate future
problems that I could face. I embrace this experience to create more self–love within. Setting out
with determination and a clear understanding of my plan will hopefully create the motivation that I
need to complete my goals. Knowing how I am, I have to take this day–by–day. If I do miss a task,
instead of beating up on myself as I usually do I will commit to that task the following day. Its not
so much doing the tasks that I am worried about because everything on my list I appreciate, it is
finding the time to fit it all in. I think what will motivate me is knowing that if I can't help and take
care of myself then how can I take care of my future clients. My ultimate goal after attending
Antioch is of course helping others better their lives so I think this plan will give me a jumpstart in
helping myself first.

The Respiratory System Essay
The respiratory system is the process responsible for the transportation and exchange of gases into
and out of the human body. As we breath in, oxygen in the air containing oxygen is drawn into the
lungs through a series of air pipes known as the airway and into the lungs. As air is drawn into the
lungs and waste gas excreted, it passes through the airway, first through the mouth or nose and
through the pharynx, larynx and windpipe – also known as the trachea. At this point it then enters
the lungs through the bronchi before finally reaching the air sacs known as alveoli. Within the lungs,
through a process known as diffusion, the oxygen is transferred to the blood stream through the
alveoli (air ducts) where it is then transported inside

Within the alveoli, the oxygen is transferred to the blood whilst simultaneously collecting waste
carbon dioxide for excretion as we breath out. This transference is known as diffusion and is linked
to the cardiovascular system.
Diffusion is an automated process by where the levels of oxygen, water and carbon dioxide pass
over a 'semi–permeable membrane' between the walls of the cells and blood vessels to create a level
environment. This membrane only allows these three elements to pass whilst retaining other
elements such as blood cells, hence semi–permeable. The high concentration on one side of the cells
transfers through this membrane until the level is equal on both sides.
The human body comprises of two respiratory sponges called lungs. The left lung is slightly smaller
than the right as it makes room for placement of the heart
. Due to this slightly smaller size, it only
contains two lobes whereas the right lung has 3 lobes. Both lungs are host to the network of air sacs
or alveoli which transport the air from the outside environment to the external and internal
respiration processes.
As we breathe in, the muscles in the chest wall force the thoracic area, ribs and connective muscles
to contract and expand the chest. The diaphragm is contracted and moves down as the area inside
the chest increases as air enters the lungs. The lungs are forced open by this expansion and the
pressure inside the lungs becomes enough that it pulls

BUILDING A HOUSE Essay
Building A House
The process of building a house is a very complex and difficult task. In the following paragraphs, I
will be explaining the many different steps that are required to build a house.
The first thing in building a house is selecting a lot and lot preparation. The land has to be cleared of
trees and brush and graded to ensure a level building area. This process is usually called excavating
and grading
. This is usually a very fast process but can be costly depending on the job.
Also the land has to perk which means the land is not too wet and is safe for a structure and allows a
septic tank to be installed that will function properly.
The next step is to have the land surveyed. When the land

When the framing crew is finished, the framing has to be inspected and passed before the next
process can begin.
The next process is for the electricians and plumbers to begin. The electricians will completely wire
the house while the plumbers will only put in the first stage of pipes. The reason for not completely
plumbing is because the showers, sinks, and toilets are the very last items to be installed.
After the wiring and preliminary plumbing are complete, insulation and installing the windows on
the house are done. Using a good insulation and good windows will help reduce the heating and
cooling costs of the homeowner. This is a step in building a house that you should spare no expense.
The insulation and windows will pay for themselves in the long run.
Next, the builder will be hanging sheetrock. The sheetrock is the base interior wall covering. After
the sheetrock is hung, the painting or wallcovering can be done. Once painting is completed, the
carpet installation or other floor coverings can be installed. This is self–explanatory.
Inside trim will also be done during this phase. This includes various molding and window casings
and other items to be done to the specifications of the homeowner.
Then builders will move to the outside of the house. The boxing and siding crews will start on the
exterior of the house. Here you have to choose whether you want vinyl siding or one of the many of
the other kinds of siding on the market today. There

Essay about Health and Wellbeing
In society today, there is an extensive range of definitions of health and wellbeing which can be seen
as both positive and negative. A Holistic view can also be identified and defined. These definitions
of health have changed over time and will carry on changing within the future. According to where a
family lives or their social class everyone will have different meanings and views of health and
wellbeing. This may be due to what one person perceives as being healthy as another person may
not. Channel 4 learning (no date) describes that a positive view of health can be seen as when a
person is more likely to achieve and sustain physical fitness from exercising and are mentally stable.
Therefor a negative view can be described when a

According to Floyd, Mimms and Yelding (2008) Webster's Dictionary defines health as "the
condition of being sound in body, mind and spirit... freedom from physical disease or pain." This
definition has very much taken the holistic view. Wellbeing is a term in which reflects on the
positive emphasis on health and can be broken down into six aspects know as environmental,
physical, social, emotional, mental and spiritual. To achieve a high balance of wellbeing it is vital
that a person is able to balance and take care of each aspect effectively. Underdown (2007) implies
that in 1948 the World Health Organization (WHO) defines health as 'a state of complete physical,
mental and social well–being and not just the absence of disease or infirmity.' This definition took a
holistic view as it mentions mental and social wellbeing and it was supported as it focused on a
person being healthy rather than not being ill. However, this definition has been widely criticized.
Seedhouse (1986) believed that for someone to be in perfect state of health is unachievable and
unrealistic.
There is a wide range of major genetic, social and environmental factors which influence the health
and wellbeing of children in today's society. According to The Marmot Review (2011) the more
deprived the area or district which a child lives in, the more likely it is to have social and

Mind And Body Essay example
The mind and body are said to be two different entities that have different characteristics. Many
have argued that each holds its own properties and can be without the other. In my opinion, the mind
and body are distinguishable in there properties but are derived from the other. The mind and body
are codependent on each other and need the other in making decisions
. The mind requires the body
to learn, experience so as to make accurate judgments, while the body requires the mind to make its
decisions for it. Without one or the other, I feel they would not be able to exist.
The mind and the body coexist together and thrive on the other by using the others traits. Many
argue that a human's death is not death
...show more content...
It needs the body to experience. The mind cannot feel a desk or smell a flower
. It needs the body to
relate those findings so that later it can make a judgment or decision on past knowledge. The mind
later can use its past experiences and knowledge to make decisions that are relevant for that time. A
quick example of how the mind and body are dependent is in the new technological revolution. A.I.
or artificial intelligence is a computer that learns on its own. It is a computer that is able to
experience and learn. The computer learns from using its senses, may they be wheels not legs or
sensors rather than eyes in this case, to teach itself. For example, a computer could hit an object that
is obstructing its path. It then stores its findings to help in its future decisions. Since the computer,
like a mind, learns through its experiences by using the body it now knows that when there is an
obstacle in its path to go around, over or under and not through it. It uses its body to learn therefore
both the mind, computer, is dependant on its body, robot. With the mind being dependant on the
body one could argue that without the body the mind would cease to exist. This is true but is also
true for the body not existing with the mind. It uses the body to make decisions almost like a puppet.
If the mind feels the body needs food it makes the decision to have the body walk from point A to
point B and eat an apple. The body however needs the

My Personal Identity Essay
A person's identity is shaped by many different aspects. Family, culture, friends, personal interests
and surrounding environments are all factors that tend to help shape a person's identity. Some factors
may have more of an influence than others and some may not have any influence at all. As a person
grows up in a family, they are influenced by many aspects of their life. Family and culture may
influence a person's sense of responsibilities, ethics and morals, tastes in music, humor and sports,
and many other aspects of life. Friends and surrounding environments may influence a person's taste
in clothing, music, speech, and social activities. Personal interests are what truly set individuals
apart. An individual is not a puppet

Society has had a limited impact on my lifestyle, mostly because I despise trends. The largest trends
I despise are rap and hip–hop and the clothing, attitudes, and type of speech that that type of 'music'
is breeding. I chose to steer away from that crowd, but it may also be because I live my life off of
adrenaline. My high on life is the energy I have when I get my blood pumping, my heart pounding,
and my adrenaline raging. Most aspects of my individuality reflect that very well. I love hard,
aggressive music, and also guns, but my passion in life is extreme sports, whether it be on a dirt
bike, a bmx bike, a snowmobile, or a snowboard. I have a strong set of morals and ethics that I have
partly adopted from my parents, but some are also partly my own. My morals mostly consist of
karma (being kind, caring, helpful, truthful, and considerate to others), not littering (especially in
nature), respecting nature, keeping a clean and welcoming home, success that is measured with
happiness and not possessions, and having strong family ties. I feel that I am very strongly rounded
individual who is going to go far in life. Many people would agree with that, although some people
just think that I am an absolutely crazy person who has a death wish and will not go anywhere but to
the hospital or the morgue. Educational experiences also tend to influence a person's identity. I have
not had too many educational

Essay about the human brain
In this paper one will learn the different parts of the brain and their functions. Although the brain
isn't the largest organ of the human body it is the most complex and controlling organ. It is amazing
how complicated the brain is. The brain controls every action within and out of your body. The brain
has main areas that contain different areas that have specific functions. For instance the basal
ganglia holds the lentiform and the caudate.
The brain isn't just "THE BRAIN" it is actually a group of many parts. They help to inform the brain
on the things going on with the human body. The brain is split in to two main parts, the left and the
right hemisphere. The left hemisphere has about the same areas as the right hemisphere. The

The corpus callosum is a bundle of nerves that connects the two hemispheres. The area that passes
and processes information concerning touch, pain, temperature, and pressure on skin is the
thalamus. The limbic system controls your behavior and emotions. It is involved in emotions such as
fear, rage, pleasure, and sorrow. In the prefrontal area of the frontal lobe emotional traits are
controlled. In the temporal lobe expressed behavior is controlled. The parietal lobe discriminates
sensory. The occipital lobe is where visual interpretation takes place. Pons is a crossroad for nerves
going up to the cortex, to the cerebellum and then down the spinal cord. The cortex is the outer gray
area where thinking takes place. The olfactory cortex receives senses from the nose that it then sorts
out. The area that identifies what we see by working out movements, colors, and shapes is the visual
cortex. The area that receives taste senses is called gustatory cortex. The area responsible for
analyzing data, performing memory functions, learning new information, forming thoughts, and
making decisions is the cerebral cortex
. The motor cortex is involved in muscle movement. The
cerebellum is vital when carrying out complicated, skilled movements. It is much like a mini brain.
If before you read this paper you thought the brain was a "one man machine" I'm sure your opinion
has changed after reading his paper. It is amazing how god has created the brain to have so many
areas

Meditation Essay
Meditation is an age–old practice that has renewed itself in many different cultures and times.
Despite its age, however, there remains a mystery and some ambiguity as to what it is, or even how
one performs it. The practice and tradition of meditation dates back thousands of years having
appeared in many eastern traditions. Meditation's ancient roots cloud its origins from being
attributed to a sole inventor or religion, though Bon, Hindu, Shinto, Dao, and later, Buddhism are
responsible for its development. Its practice has permeated almost all major world religions
, but
under different names. It has become a practice without borders, influencing millions with its
tranquil and healing effects.
Western medicine has recently

Regardless of a new capitalism, which has erupted around meditation, the practice has provided a
mental oasis to millions of people strained and made anxious by the stresses of modern life.
Meditation is the practice of "bringing the mind home . . . meant to awaken in us the sky–like nature
of the mind, and to introduce us to that which we really are, our unchanging pure awareness, which
underlies the whole of life and death." (Rinpoche, 2002). Its goal is to relieve the suffering of the
mind and lead its practitioners to the enlightenment found by Siddhartha Guatama or the Buddha
while he sat beneath the Bodi tree. The mind's home in meditation is a clear, lucid, unaltered state in
which the fragmented frames of thought that usually circulates in the untrained mind are set aside
and forced out. A mind free of worry and apprehension is at peace and free of suffering. A number of
physical and mental exercises are used to bring the mind to this lucid state of natural existence. The
four objects of consideration and awareness when meditating are the body, feelings, state of the
mind, and the mind's contents.
Body positioning during meditation has practical and traditional roots. The posture assumed during
meditation resembles the crossed leg position of the Buddha. Although there are many variations of
posture and hand placement, they all attempt to create and emphasize the connection

Food and Nutrition Essay
Proper nutrition is one of the most essential elements to being healthy and living a long life. People
deal with food every day, and food has been a part of life since the beginning of civilization. What
we eat becomes our diet, and our diet plays a major role in deciding how healthy we are and how
well our body functions. Without proper diet, our body cannot carry out the functions it needs to
perform. Most people have some common knowledge on what is good and what is bad for the
human body to consume. Fruits, vegetables, nuts, and grains are some common items people think
of when they think of healthy foods. However, it is not enough just to know what foods are good for
your body, it is also important to understand why certain foods are

These include obesity, diabetes, and several heart conditions. Obesity is the term used for someone
who qualifies as significantly overweight. A BMI (Body Mass Index) records weight in relation to
height. A BMI of 25 is overweight and a BMI of 30 is obese. Obesity is not a disease in its self but it
can lead to different health issues, some fatal. Obesity can be related to eighty percent of type two
diabetes, seventy percent of cardiovascular disease, thirty percent to gall bladder surgeries, and forty
two percent to breast and colon cancer. Unfortunately, obesity rates in people are rising rapidly. The
United States alone had an obesity rate of twenty six percent in 2007. Some cases of obesity are
gene related, but most other cases are a result of improper dieting and exercise among the individual
("Why Is Proper Nutrition Important?", Case Western Reserve University). Type II diabetes is
another major effect from improper diet and nutrition. When someone is a type II diabetic, their
body either produces too little of an amount of insulin, or their body's cells ignore the insulin.
Insulin is important in helping your body use sugar for Kavanaugh 3 energy. When a person
consumes food with sugar, the sugar is broken down into glucose. Glucose is used as an energy
source for the body and is transported throughout your blood into the cells by insulin. Without
proper amounts of insulin, your body is unable to use the glucose as
