Hello, I am taking this course because it is part of my course map for the bachelor's in
information technology at Phoenix College. I honestly do not know a ton about Operating
System Configuration and Support. I want to become confident in my skills through this class. I
want to understand operating systems better and in more detail. Overall my goal is to become
a successful IT professional. As of right now I am in my second year of Information
Technology, and I have a lot left to learn. (http

Hello Ashley, we have a similar path ahead of us for this course and our education. I am
also working to complete my bachelor's in information technology. It is perfect timing that
Maricopa Community College now offers a bachelor's program! It is significantly more
affordable than traditional universities. I am grateful to have found the program at a
community college. Good luck with your educational journey.

The reason I am taking this course is to be ITIL certified for SMCC and of course gain my
Bachelors degree. Right now I am saying I may know all about technology but I know for sure
going through this course and training I will be learning new things that I may not know yet. I
will be learning with all my classmates. I've been working with SMCC Tech Support since
2015. So I have been learning there and I will learn new things here as well. (http

Hello David, I think it's great that your studying ITIL and working on your Bachelor's
Degree. I know a little bit about ITIL, but I heard that in order to manage IT services over
the whole service lifecycle, ITIL is a framework.

Hello David! I attended SMCC nd it was such a great school. All the schools from the
district but I seen that Phoenix college had a bachelors program for information technology
and thought it would be great to start as soon a possible. I'm very determined and I
couldn't wait till fall so started in the summer taking two classes. This semester I'm taking
4 so I know there will be more work to get done. With so much to learn I hope I will come
with new knowledge for next semester!

I'm taking this class because I'm majoring in Web Development/Design and this class is one of
the requirements for my Bachelor’s Degree program. I don't know much about Operating
System Configuration and Support, but I'll be willing to learn about this course. What I plan to
do with this knowledge is learning so many new things in computers, including Operating
System Configuration and Support because Computer skills has a big impact on personal
development, professional advancement, and job chances. Strong computer abilities are
valued by companies in the current digital era and can lead to a variety of job prospects.

I took couple of classes in high school and I learned so much about Web Developing and it
was great getting to experience the coding, but there's more to it when it comes to Web
Developing/Design. I heard
(https://www.devry.edu/blog/13-web-developer-skills-you-
should-have.html) that you need to learn so many skills when it comes to be a Web
Developer, such as Program frameworks, Testing and Debugging, and Communication
Skills because their more likely to work on the user experience side of this process,
making decisions about page styles, colors, images, type font selection and other
details. With the advent of technology, web development is always changing. Even though
we might not be able to notice this every day, it's simple for us to look back and notice how
things have changed.

Hello Micah, I completely agree that knowledge of computers is crucial for most careers
now. Web development and design is a fantastic field to get into. There is so much growth
and demand for the field. For anyone who is interested in following the same path, check
out this site I found. It shows some of the different paths you can follow in this field. It also
tells you that most students who get a degree in Web Development and Design also go
into Information Technology above any other field. Web Development & Design

Heya! I am taking this class as a step to complete my bachelor's degree in IT. I want to learn
more about how computers work and how to correct common problems. I want to go into
programming if I am able, so the more that I know about how computers work, the better I can
write code to interact with them. If I don't go into programming, this information is still useful to
me in the long run.

In this day and age, it is useful for everyone to know how computers work and how to
correct common problems. It will definitely be helpful with programming as well, as some
codes are used to fix common problems! You got this! I have been following this guy since I started BPC170 back in May. His videos are a
walkthrough of common testout labs, and the best part is the way he explains everything
as he shows how to do the lab! He is great for some extra in-depth learning! This is his

Hi Zachary! I am also taking this course in preparation for the CompTIA A+ exam and took
BPC170 in the summer. It is undoubtedly a lot of knowledge to familiarize yourself with
and retain, so I am nervous about taking the exam after this course. Before my BPC170
course started this summer, I decided I wanted to see what I could expect from the exam. I
stumbled upon two channels on YouTube that help prepare you for the CompTIA A+,
Network+, and Security+ certification exams and even for the Cisco CCNA certification
exam. NetworkChuck
(https://youtube.com/@NetworkChuck) helps with CompTIA
Security+ and Cisco CCNA training, and Professor Messer
(https://www.youtube.com/@ProfessorMesser) helps with CompTIA A+, Network+, and

Good afternoon, I am taking this course because this is the course map that me and with the
help of my advisor created. With this course plan I am planning to get my associates in 2025
and then later my bachelors. I do have a decent understanding in operating system, but I will
admit that my MACOS and Linux knowledge could use some dusting since I do not use them
as frequent. I want to become a stronger member on my team and taking classes like these
will help me reach that goal.

I wish you all the best in your educational goals! What degree are you going for? MacOS
and Linux knowledge can be found everywhere on the Internet thankfully (I own a Mac
and have been refreshing my Linux knowledge pretty regularly). Some references I've
found to be super helpful in learning more about Linux include LinuxJourney
(https://linuxjourney.com/) (which I believe walks you through the basics step-by-step if I
remember correctly) and Bandit
(https://overthewire.org/wargames/bandit/) by
OverTheWire (which has you solve a ton of different Linux challenges to improve your
skills). The info for connecting to Bandit is in the top left corner of the page.

Hi, I am taking this course because it is part of the bachelor's in information technology at
Phoenix College. I feel confident hands-on with Operating System Configuration and Support,
but not so much so that I could pass the A + Cert without studying. I want to be able to pass
the A+ Exam and not only know how and what I am using in an IT environment, but Terms and
deeper knowledge as well. I already have an associate's in Cybersecurity and hope to get a
bachelor's in information technology. I am currently looking for a part-time job and I expect it to
be Help Desk related, A+ skills easily Translate from what I heard.

Greetings Steven, It sounds like most if not all of us are taking this course for similar reasons. The bachelor's
program has been a major driving factor for so many students enrolled in this class. Its
great that you have a basic understanding of tech, that definitely helps when taking online
classes. Given that you already have a degree in cybersecurity I am sure this course will
just build on the foundational information you have already learned. A+ will certainly aid
you in a helpdesk or even a technician role. Cheers to a great semester!

Hi Eric. I also like to do outdoor stuff. I'm not that into sports but I love sports betting. The

Hi everyone,
I'm Mads. I'm taking this course to further my knowledge needed for the A+ exam and fulfill
required courses for my degree in IT/cybersecurity. I hope to further the knowledge I'm
learning in my BPC170 class and get further in-depth on topics that have already been
covered in my 170 class in preparation to take (and pass) the A+. I'm very excited to be taking
this course and look forward to meeting you all!

Learning isn’t linear, going from cooking to computers isn’t an easy transition, yet despite
a setback, you are here and giving it another go and I think that is awesome. IT work is a
lot of trial and error, so your determination to try again should serve you well.

Hi Cesar,
It's great to hear that you aren't giving up; it's a big step towards your goal. Going from
being a cook for 8 years to working in IT is a big change, but I'm confident you'll pass this
time and succeed!

Hi everyone! I am taking this course as it is required for my program of study, the BAS in
Information Technology, here at Phoenix College. Additionally, I enjoyed taking BPC170 over
the summer as I gained a lot of insight about computer hardware. I hope to learn more about
the many operating systems out there and how to service and configure them. I enjoyed taking
BPC170, but I will enjoy BPC270 more as I have always been into learning more about how
operating systems work. I am not sure what I want to do in the IT field yet, but having these
skills will help me pass the CompTIA A+ exam and get certified, which I can use to get an
internship. I'm still exploring different career options, so I hope the more I progress in my
