Crime Scene Sketch with Detailed Vehicle Date and Time : Monday, December 10, 2018, at approximately 15:40 Location: Burger King parking lot, 2354 Kings Highway, Santa Carolina, NY Case Number : 13-94834 Incident: Burglary to a vehicle
Description of the Incident CSI Smith and an intern responded to a reported vehicle burglary at the Burger King parking lot. The victim, Mrs. Mary Parker, discovered her vehicle's passenger window smashed and her personal items, an iPad and Beats headphones, missing. A sketch was created, featuring a representation of the vehicle to show the smashed window and the locations of the stolen items. CSI Miller collected the tire iron found on the passenger floorboard and a blood sample from the front floorboard. Both items were carefully packaged in paper bags and labeled with case number 13-94834. The evidence was then securely transported to the headquarters and handed over to the evidence custodian at 17:40 on December 10, 2018, maintaining the integrity of the chain of custody. Triangulated Measurements : Purple and orange lines, showing exact distances from reference points to the vehicle. Compass Direction : 'N' for North and case number at the top of the sketch. Chain of Custody or Evidence Collection Details At the crime scene, meticulous care was taken to preserve the integrity of the evidence. CSI Miller, upon identifying critical items, implemented standard evidence collection protocols. The following items were collected: 1. Tire Iron : Found on the passenger’s floorboard (marked as 'Item 1'). It was presumed to be the tool used to smash the vehicle's window. The tire iron was carefully placed in a paper bag, sealed, and labeled with the case identifier "13- 94834." 2. Blood Sample : Visible blood droplets were noticed on the passenger’s front floorboard (marked as 'Item 2'). A blood sample was collected using standard biohazard protocols to ensure the preservation of DNA. This sample was also secured in a separate paper bag, following the same labeling process. Both items were meticulously logged into the evidence record, detailing the time of collection, the collector's name, and the specific location of each item in the vehicle. Post-collection, the evidence was directly transported to the headquarters and handed over to the evidence custodian, ensuring an unbroken chain of custody. Additional Scene Information
The crime scene at the Burger King parking lot at 2354 Kings Highway presented certain characteristics that might contribute to the ongoing investigation: Lighting Conditions : The area was well lit, suggesting visibility was not a hindrance during the incident. Weather Conditions : At the time of the crime, the weather was clear. No environmental factors like rain or fog were present that could obscure visibility or affect the collection of evidence. Surveillance : CCTV cameras positioned at the Burger King premises could provide additional insights. The angles of the cameras relative to the parking spot of the burglarized vehicle need to be examined for potential footage of the incident or the perpetrator. Witness Potential : While no direct witnesses were reported at the time of the incident, the proximity of the crime scene to the Burger King establishment raises the possibility of indirect witnesses or bystanders who might have seen suspicious activities.
