S cenario Like Rob says, Illustrator is “luxury software.” In this lesson, you’ll take a few baby steps forward and ease this Ferrari out of the driveway. We’re taking it nice and slow, ladies and gentlemen! At the beginning of this project, you’ll cover a few basic techniques for modifying and adjusting your text in Illustrator, which is actually one of its most powerful and extraordinarily useful features. The cool thing is that in Illustrator, there is often more than one “right” tool! In the second half of the project, Rob will walk you through each and every drawing tool in the toolbar. Our suggestion: play, play, play! The more you experiment, the more you’ll become comfortable with all that Illustrator has to offer. E xpectation Part 1: Create 5 calligrams – words that illustrate their own meaning through colors, shapes, and other designs. Part 2: Create 2 simple cartoon characters using a variety of drawing and shape-building tools. T imeline This should take you 6-7 hours of class time to complete. Make sure to finish your BrainBuffet P.L.A.T.E. for every day you’re working on a tutorial! (Progress Learning, Activity, Timestamp, Experience.) Day 1 Date: Day 2 Date: Videos Completed: Screenshots to document progress? What was the coolest thing you learned? Videos Completed: Screenshots to document progress?
