3-2 Assignment: Evaluate a Process Shelayah Robinson Describe Hamp Crafts’ current purchase and supply process by responding to the following prompts: Interpret the provided data flow diagram. What does it show? What does the current purchase and supply process entail? From the data flow diagram, it depicts the starting point of the customer. In order for the process is required to work, it must have a customer. From the customer, the customer order is received upon check out and the customer receiving their order or Fulfill Order. From the check out the Process is deviates into the Shipping Plan, the process requires a Carrier, which leads to the final end-goal being the Shipper. From the fulfill Order, there needs to be a set schedule the customer should receive their order. The supplier choice is dependent on the shipment schedule leading to contract negotiations. From an overview of the diagram, there are blunt description from each action leading to another process. If a consumer makes a purchase, the supply process is determined by a supplier contract, leading to the shipment schedule and further more. What are the data sources involved in the current process? The data sources involved in this current process are the following: receiving orders from customers, having a select supplier for the order, having a carrier upon check out for customer order, and delivering the order. For the new online storefront, Hamp Crafts’ owners want to ensure that customers can easily view products, pay for them, and receive confirmation of their orders. The owners want to be sure that any payments will be transferred to Hamp Crafts’ business account. You have also suggested adding an administrative backend to provide customer support, update customer information, and maintain the website. In order to add this functionality, you will need to consider Hamp Crafts’ current purchase and supply process. Then you will need to determine the additional requirements needed to support an online storefront by responding to the following prompts: What additional processes are necessary to integrate an online storefront? To integrate an online storefront, I would suggest looking into creating another process calling it the administrative backend which would stem from the customer. could include: customer support, update consumer information if the user changes anything in the settings. I would also suggest adding another plan stemming from the check out to ensure that the payments received from the consumer go towards Hamp Crafts' business account. What additional data sources would the system need to access the products and inventory? The additional data sources needed to access the products and inventory would include: product carrier, product inventory amount, product price, and product shipping information. What additional databases, if any, are needed to support the online storefront? I think the most important database needed to support the online storefront for dealing with customer support, updating customer information. I personally think that having a database for products to keep tabs on the inventory to let the company and the consumer know that this product is running low. Finally, determine how to integrate the new online storefront into Hamp Crafts’ current purchase and supply process by responding to the following prompt: Would you recommend creating a separate new system for the online storefront or incorporating elements of the online storefront into the current process model? Explain your reasoning. I think incorporating elements of the online storefront into the current process model would be the better move. For the following reasons, you can build off of any process that may relate to anything with regards to the consumer. For example, if I wanted to create a process in relation with the consumer or details regarding shipping, i could link it back to where it would reference.
