Section 1: Preparation
What is the workplace communication you are planning?
Explain its purpose and the need for it. (Remember the case study is based on a school and you are having a meeting to discuss feedback about the canteen menu. parents, students etc have already given you feedback about general changes they recommend to the school menu. you are discussing your ideas with your team (other staff members). and getting ideas from your team to make decisions on how to update the menu. You will be creating new menu items and developing a meeting plan to implement them – the communication will be a meeting plan via a word document and you will hold a meeting with creativity exercises/research etc. You are the administrative assistant – what are the other roles of the students at your meeting eg chef etcetc what is the purpose of the communications?) delete

Attachment 4) Assessor Feedback
Dear student I wanted to commend you on your performance during yesterday’s meeting and
in the written document you presented. You have created an excellent menu
with your team. You have shown advanced presentation skills, good listening
ability and your document is well written and organised. Overall your
communications demonstrated professionalism and courtesy.
An area that I think you can improve in your verbal communication is speaking
more slowly and asking more questions to keep the audience engaged and to
improve participation. With regard to your written communication I found the
document is well structured and logical. I believe you can improve the layout of
the document by writing in more complete sentences and work on your spelling.
To develop these skills I suggest spending time practicing your public speaking
skills and do a short course in written communication.
Overall you have performed well.
Kind Regards LLOYDS INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE

This is the case study we are using. DO NOT REWRITE THIS INSTEAD USE THE INFORMATION TO DO YOUR ASSESSMENT. DELETE
Case study information
Scenario
You are an admin assistant, working within an admin team for a local school. It is your team’s responsibility to manage the school canteen menu, working collaboratively with the student body, parents
and teachers. Currently, the menu only has a limited vegetarian option and has a number of high sugar foods and drinks. Feedback received from the students, teachers, parents and visitors has highlighted the need for a healthier food menu and following are some suggestions should be incorporated into the next term’s menu:
More vegetarian and vegan options
Less sugary drinks and cakes with a replacement option
Friday Pizzas
Special occasion food such as for Valentine’s day, Easter and Christmas
You have been asked by your supervisor to consider some options for the school canteen offerings. This will be then discussed at the next admin meeting. Intended audience
You will record information about colleagues in your portfolio. These team members will be fellow students who you will interview and document their preferences in your portfolio. Communication should be according to the diverse needs of participants. You must clearly demonstrate how you will address each person’s needs. This can be presented as a table.
Organisational requirements
Any formal correspondence that you have with your colleagues must be via email. Emails must be clearly
communicated, written in plain English and be professionally written. Emails must:
Include a relevant subject heading.
Use a formal address such as Dear [Mr Hill] or for colleagues you may use Dear [Karen].
A formal ending such as Kind regards, followed by your name and title.
The content must be clear and concise, written to suit diverse communication needs and be clear in meaning.
