Your Answer - (1) The educator supported and engaged the child in learning hand hygiene in a positive and effective manner. She used positive non-verbal communication by kneeling down to the child's level, with her hand motions imitating how to wash hands, and made eye contact, and used positive verbal communication using clear and simple instructions that were age appropriate, explaining to the child how to rub their hands together with the soap and water to wash them. The educator demonstrated warmth and respect for the child by using a calm and gentle tone of voice and by showing patience in her instruction, allowing the child to figure out how to do it for themselves and learn at their own pace. | would ensure a child feels respected and builds secure attachments with me by encouraging independence and offering choices, such as "which sink would you like to use?" and "would you like to dry your hands with the air drier or a paper towel?" allowing them opportunities to explore while providing a safe and supportive environment for their growth and development, where children feel secure and confident in their interactions with me. | would offer encouragement and praise, such as, "You're doing a great job washing your hands!
