HPF209_Assessment_1_Brief_Essay_Module Due3.1 Page 1 of 6 Task Summary Write an essay that examines the current debate in Australia surrounding the use of homeopathy as a way of treating health conditions. Assess the evidence for the efficacy of Homoeopathic treatment and critically evaluate the arguments on both sides of the debate. From your research, make an assertion about the value of homeopathy in clinical practice that is supported by the evidence. Please refer to the Task Instructions for details on how to complete this task. Context Homoeopathy is a modality commonly used within naturopathic practice. In this task students will consider the scientific evidence base of homoeopathy to evaluate the criticisms of the modality that are made in a recent Australian National Health & Medical Research Council (NHMRC) report on Homeopathy. This task will prepare you to engage in academic debate regarding the scientific basis of homoeopathy. You will develop skills to counter the typical assertions and criticisms of this modality. This will be of benefit in clinical practice to explain to patients and other health professionals about the evidence in relation to the efficacy and safety of homeopathy. Task Instructions Identify the criticisms and controversies of homeopathy as outlined in the introduction to the NHMRC Report on Homeopathy.
