D082 Task 1 Template and Tips
To access the official Task Instructions and Grading Rubric, please click on the “View Task” links on your main D082 Course of Study page. A. Global Leadership Foundation Emotional Intelligence Test (GEIT)
Complete and submit your GEIT results by attaching a PDF or a screenshot of the test results page to your submission
. Here is a link to the
GEIT Test
(also found on the Course Resources page or at the bottom of the Task 1 instructions). Make certain to attach both GEIT test and the assignment before submission
. Please do not include your results as a link as the evaluators
cannot open file links within your submission. B. Intrapersonal Improvement
Apply either the research of Peter Salovey and John D. Mayer or Daniel Goleman to explain TWO
ways that you can improve your intrapersonal areas of opportunity (self-awareness and/or self-management) from your GEIT results. (Unit 2: Module 1). 1.
The first way I can improve an intrapersonal score I received on GEIT is by taking a deeper look at my own “Adaptability” (Global Leadership Foundation, 2017) meaning “how resilient you are and your ability and willingness to change course when necessary”
(Emotional and Cultural Intelligence, 2020). Change has been very uncomfortable for me
in the past and managing the attached emotional experience has proven to be quite difficult due to anxiety. However, change throughout my life always ended up putting me
on the path toward greater things. Recognizing this simple fact is enough to output less anxiety and more confidence when referring to adaptability, ultimately improving my self-management skills.
2.
Secondly, I can progress the scores I achieved by becoming more optimistic in life. In other words, “Do you hope for the best and prepare for success?” (Emotional and Cultural Intelligence, 2020); this is an important factor in altering the trajectory of my emotional success in general. A negative outlook can be detrimental to your life and poison minds around you. Often in my life I have remained negative and swallowed the energy of others trying to pick it up for me. Improving my positive outlook through a necessary perspective shift will most certainly raise the score I received on the GEIT.
C. Interpersonal Improvement
C. Describe TWO
Emotional Intelligence communication techniques
that can improve your interpersonal areas of opportunity (social awareness and/or relationship management) from the GEIT results (Unit 2: Modules 1 and 3). Please be sure to explain how these Emotional Intelligence communication techniques will help you to improve your interpersonal areas of Emotional Intelligence. 1.
One emotional communication technique I will administer is being supportive, therefore impacting my interpersonal skills directly. Active listening “requires you to be engaged in the moment and to meaningfully receive the words and body language of someone else” (Emotional and Cultural Intelligence, 2020) therefore understanding the feelings of others more deeply. Understanding someone’s feelings delivers a greater competence of who they are and what their intention of communication is. By administering this technique into my life, I will surely improve my ability to relate to and feel empathy for those around me. 2.
Another communication technique utilized is to be conjunctive. Being conjunctive means
“follow the flow”
(
Emotional and Cultural Intelligence, 2020) and keeping each conversation on topic while allowing for external input throughout a conversation. A problem in my past has been rambling on and on while never leaving room for objection from active participants in these conversations. This technique will improve my interpersonal areas of opportunity by demonstrating emotional depth and maturity. Parties included in future conversations will be seen, heard, and potentially validated. D. References
